In Michigan, all riders under 16 years of age are required to complete an approved ORV Safety Course and carry the Michigan ORV Safety Certificate with them at all times while riding on public lands. The ORV safety certificate is proof that the individual has successfully completed all of the components of an approved ORV safety course. Both Hurley and Mercer also qualified three relay teams. Mercer’s Aubrey Schoeneman continued to put up big numbers in the shot put (42-10) and the discus (129-9). She won both events. Hurley’s Mahra Wick won the 300 hurdles easily and lost by .03 second to Chequamegon’s Kristina Peterson in the 100 hurdles. The Hurley girls finished third behind winner Chequamegon and runner-up Flambeau. Mercer was sixth. Washburn-South Shore won the boys meet with Hur- ley third and Mercer eighth. Hurley’s Carson Thewis took first in the 400 dash and Devon Lino won the shot put. Mercer’s 800 relay team of Joe Laudolff, Alex Schmidt, Jacob Schmidt and Tristin Woolf finished in first place.
