• Maggie Bell & Midnight Flyer Live Montreux July 1981
Maggie Bell & Midnight Flyer Live Montreux July 1981 http://allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=10:kvfexzu5ldhe The great {$Maggie Bell} deserves a platform and this {^Live At Montreux, July 1989} set has her in fine form. More driving than when she appeared in concert in America to back up her 1974 album, {^Queen Of The Night}, she tears through titles like {&"Danger Money"} and {&"Love Games"} with a crack band that lets her fly. This is the bluesy mama from {$Stone The Crows} that built a solid cult following, and her smiling face and energy throughout evidence that she deserved mainstream success. {&"Sweet Lovin' Woman"} will absolutely bring up images of {$Janis Joplin} in the mind of the viewer, and like her contemporary, {$Genya Ravan}, it is something both these soul singers embraced somewhat while still distancing themselves from. In {&"Tell Mama"} Joplin often sang "You need a sweet loving mama, babe..." and that feel is absolutely evoked here. The film quality is excellent, what we expect from both Montreux and Angel Air. There's a great rendition of {&"Bring It On Home To Me"} and lots of inspired energy that makes this another super moment in the {$Maggie Bell} discography. Perhaps if Bell had embraced more pop covers she could have reached a much wider audience. Her stage presence - and her pipes - could add much to a variety of styles, not just the blues genre which she is so comfortable with. Still, despite the presence of worldwide hits, it's great to have this document of Maggie at this prestigious and historic venue.

  • Brian Auger´S Oblivion Express Feat. Alex Ligertwood
Brian Auger´s Oblivion Express feat. Alex Ligertwood Alex Ligertwood (li.) und Brian Auger (re.) „Brian Auger (* 18. In dieser Besetzung hatte die Band mehrere Single-Hits (Road ToCairo, This Wheel's on Fire, Season Of The Witch) und brachte das viel beachtete Doppelalbum „Streetnoise“ (1969) heraus.

For Linda, Evie, Mollie and Michael – always. Author’s Note While I have been fortunate over the years to have enjoyed the company of various ex-members and/or former employees of Led Zeppelin, it should be born in mind at all times that this is an unauthorised biography, written objectively and with no undue pressure from any outside influence to do anything other than tell the story as I honestly see it. It should also be clearly understood that the italicised ‘flashback’ passages of the text are not the actual words of Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Bonham, John Paul Jones and Peter Grant, nor are they actual quotes. Whilst they are all based on thorough biographical research, the facts of which can be found in the Notes & Sources section at the end of this book, the words themselves are the product of my imagination. In 2008 UNESCO awarded Glasgow the title of ‘City of Music’ and the application dossier submitted in support of this title noted the importance of rock and pop for the city’s musical reputation. Since the late 1970s a large number of bands have emerged from (or been associated with) the city, yet little academic research has been carried out to determine the factors behind this phenomenon.
