May 14, 2021

Greetings,

As you are probably aware, last week our amazing MDES PTO recognized our staff with snacks, plants and t-shirts in honor of Staff Appreciation Week. On behalf of the MDES staff, I wish to extend our thanks for such a warm and generous outpouring. Even in remote fashion, our PTO always figures out a way to make magic happen!

With a little over 4 weeks of school left, I also wish to make you aware of important year-end information:

May 21: School Spirit Day: America Day – wear red, white and blue!

May 31: No school in honor of Memorial Day

June 14: Grade 5 Fun Day – We thank the PTO for their generosity in funding Kona Ice for our departing fifth graders. The fifth graders will be asked to wear their class shirts (currently on order) and spend time outside signing yearbooks and engaging in teacher-led activities. Please send in a towel, as well, so the students will have them to sit on while they eat their lunches outside on that day. As always, your child may bring his/her own lunch from home or access one from the cafeteria. Remote students who wish to attend should be dropped off at 10:00am at the soccer field adjacent to the school and picked up from the soccer field at 1:00pm. Email Ms. Birr to confirm your attendance so she’ll know to expect you.

June 15: Last day of school Grades K-5: Dismissal Time is 12:30pm

June 15: Grade 5 Celebration Parade! Fifth graders, if you are able, please return to school and our entire MDES staff will be outside to celebrate you as you parade by in your family’s car. Feel free to festively decorate your cars! To alleviate traffic congestion, we will stagger the arrival times for each class:

Ms. Birr: 2:00 Mrs. Dillon: 2:15 Mrs. King: 2:30 Mrs. Ivers: 2:45

With Gratitude, Kelley Paradis
