Good evening and welcome to tonight's Foxtel Y-League Grand Final and Hyundai A-League clash against Newcastle Jets at ANZ Stadium. We are currently in a very exciting period at the Western Sydney Wanderers with the Academy flourishing and reaching a number of milestones. Today our Foxtel Y-League team will kick off in their second consecutive Grand Final against Brisbane Roar, a feat that I am very proud of the team, staff and club in achieving. It has been at times a difficult season for our Foxtel Y-League Mitsubishi Electric, proudly supporting team, but one of celebration, as many of our players have been promoted to the Hyundai A-League squad. This has also given the chance for the next generation of Academy players to step up, many of which you will see playing today. With the opening of The Western Sydney Wanderers FC. our new facilities very soon in Blacktown Sports Park there's no doubt that this will be one of many Grand Finals that you will see the club play in, with juniors from all around the Western Sydney region getting the chance to represent their hometown club on the big stage. So get behind both our Foxtel Y-League and Hyundai A-League teams tonight as they battle in two very important #WSWvNEW matches, one in the Grand Final and one which will kickstart our run to the Finals Series. With three points in their hand, a late heist during injury time left Babbel and the Wanderers floored by a late capitulation, forcing them to search for redemption once more tonight. Similarly, the Jets head into the match with their own sets of frustrations having been unable to secure any points against league leaders Perth Glory on Sunday night. Goals by Andy Keogh and Neil Kilkenny on either side of the half established an MATCH unassailable two-goal buffer, with the Jets struggling to get anything out of the match. The last time the Wanderers and the Jets met PREVIEW was back in Round 5 of the Hyundai A-League competition, with the Jets the runaway winners in a 2-0 victory at Spotless Stadium. fter a very hectic schedule, the Red & Goals by Jason Hoffman and Ronald Vargas Black are back at home today to face secured the three points for the visitors who will Aoff against the Newcastle Jets in the no doubt be looking to replicate that result to final Summer of Heroes fixture. kickstart their run to the finals series. Outside of ex-club Phoenix, Brisbane were the only Hyundai A-League team against whom Bonevacia had failed to score prior to kick-off. But the 27-year-old needed just 18 minutes to buck that trend when he latched onto Brendan Hamill's ball over the top and lashed a fierce strike at the near post. That sparked Markus Babbel's side to play with a confident swagger, encapsulated by the lovely piece of striking play from Yeboah 07 THIS MATCH BROUGHT TO YOU BY FIELD CATHERINE CANNULI REPORTER @CANNULI_13 o say it's been a frustrating season for our Westfield W-League team would be an understatement. TA number of fantastic performances by the girls have resulted in the barest of points as we now start to look towards now building for the next season of the Westfield W-League competition. We go into tomorrow night's match against Newcastle Jets after another ON THIS disappointing result against Perth Glory. Sam Kerr's 64th and 65th Westfield W-League goals underpinned a solid COURTESY OF ANDREW HOWE performance by Perth Glory as they thumped the girls 5-1 at Marconi Stadium. DAY @ANDYHOWE_STATTO It was end-to-end play for the two sides but we were very unfortunate to have not capitalised on our chances in the match. The Jets still have a chance to make finals football and recently played some great football against Adelaide United, defeating the side 2-1. Goals from Arin Wright and a injury time winner from Panagiota Petratos secured an important three points for the Jets' finals series hopes. With pride now the only thing on the line for the Red & Black, we must take our chances to get a result in our final Westfield W-League match of the season. The Westfield W-League leading appearance-maker Clare Polkinghorne was born on this day in 1989. Born and bred in Brisbane, Polkinghorne was the first player to play 100 times in both the Westfield W-League and for the Matildas.
