    VITA Suhardi Maulan was born on September 11, 1971 in Kajang, Selangor, Malaysia. He received his Malaysian Certificate of Education in 1988 and enrolled in the MARA Institute of Technology (UiTM), Shah Alam, Malaysia in 1989. In 1992, he graduated from UiTM with a Diploma in Landscape Design, and was given the Best Student Award. Interested in improving himself and pursuing knowledge in the above area, as well, as research and teaching in landscape architecture, he accepted a position as a tutor in the Department of Landscape Architecture at the Universiti Putra Malaysia in 1999. In June 2000, he was awarded another Malaysian Government Scholarship for graduate study in Landscape Architecture at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. The aim of this study was to assess urban metabolism in (2016) three cities in Malaysia; Kuala Lumpur, Ampang Jaya and Selayang by using Material Flow Analysis (MFA). The data that was analysed included electricity inputs, water inputs, food (rice, eggs and sugar) inputs, carbon dioxide outputs, wastewater outputs and solid waste outputs. The national data were down - scaled to prov ide regional data where deemed necessary. The electricity consump tion of 0.188 koe/cap/day in Klang Valley contributed to carbon dioxide of 0.455 kg/cap/day, while 95.32% of water consumption became wastewater. Consumption of 0.38 kg/cap/day of ‘rice, egg s and sugar’ contributed in the production of 4.5 kg/cap/day of solid wastes. The urban metabolism approach provides information on urban management at city level such as material cycling, energy efficiency and waste management and may also assist in decis ion making for future urban development planning as well as providing an informed and rapid assessment on the environmental performance of urban area.

Who is IWH-CREC Sdn Bnd (ICSB)? ICSB is a joint venture between Iskandar Waterfront Holdings Sdn Bhd (IWH) and China Railway Engineering Corp (M) Sdn Bhd (CRECM). IWH holds 60% interest in ICSB and the remaining 40% is by CRECM. CRECM is a 100% owned subsidiary of CREC. CREC is a world-leading construction conglomerate with more than 120 years history. The present study investigates the potential of coconut water vinegar in promoting recovery on acetaminophen induced liver damage. Methods: Mice were injected with 250 mg/kg body weight acetaminophen for 7 days and were treated with distilled water (untreated), Silybin (positive control) and coconut water vinegar (0.08 mL/kg and 2 mL/kg body weight). Level of oxidation stress and inflammation among treated and untreated mice were compared. Results: Untreated mice oral administrated with acetaminophen were observed with elevation of serum liver profiles, liver histological changes, high level of cytochrome P450 2E1, reduced level of liver antioxidant and increased level of inflammatory related markers indicating liver damage. On the other hand, acetaminophen challenged mice treated with 14 days of coconut water vinegar were recorded with reduction of serum liver profiles, improved liver histology, restored liver antioxidant, reduction of liver inflammation and decreased level of liver cytochrome P450 2E1 in dosage dependent level. Conclusion: Coconut water vinegar has helped to attenuate acetaminophen-induced liver damage by restoring antioxidant activity and suppression of inflammation.
