He studied at the 2013 Howard Hodgkin, Fondation Bemberg, Tolouse, France Camberwell School of Art and the Bath Academy of Art in the early Bengal Art Lounge and British Council Bangladesh 1950s. He first visited India in 1964, returning every year for many presents Howard Hodgkin, Gulshan, Bengal, India years. Hodgkin spent a period teaching until 1972. In 2016 the of Contemporary Art, Tilburg, The Netherlands Alan Cristea Gallery, London, inaugurated their new premises Howard Hodgkin: Prints from the Collection, 1987-2002, with a major retrospective of Hodgkin’s prints. In 2016 Hodgkin The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, USA designed the set and costumes for the ballet, Layla and Majnun, 2009 As Time Goes By, Alan Cristea Gallery, London, UK performed by the Mark Morris Dance Group, USA. Hodgkin died 2008 Masterpieces of Modern British Art, Osborne Samuel, aged 84 in London in 2017.
