To this end, we investigated whether subject–object reanalyses in German verb-final sentences can be asso- ciated with an electrophysiological processing signature that is distinct from the response typically engendered by structure-affecting reanalyses (the P600). We hypothesized that the previously observed heterogeneous ERP component pattern for subject-object reanalyses in German might be due to task- or strategy-related interactions between the crit- ical processing mechanisms and the experimental environment. In order to minimize specific task influences, Experi- ment 1 therefore embedded subject–object ambiguities into short stories (presented auditorily). Constructions with dative and accusative objects both showed a biphasic N400-late positivity pattern for disambiguation towards an object-initial structure. These results thus contrast with previous findings, in showing that there is no principled differ- ence in the component pattern for the two types of structures. This conclusion was confirmed by the results of Exper- iment 2, which presented the identical accusative sentences from Experiment 1 in isolation using two different tasks (comprehension vs. acceptability) and again revealed N400-late positivity responses. From the overall data pattern, we conclude that the N400 is a robust correlate of grammatical function reanalysis that occurs independently of any lexical factors and, consequently, that grammatical function reanalysis is functionally distinct from phrase structure reanalysis. Nevertheless, experimental demonstrations of this fact are thus far limited to some abstract problems, far away from real-life tasks. We show here, and demonstrate experimentally, that the power of reduction of communication complexity can be harnessed to gain advantage in famous, immensely popular, card game - Bridge. The essence of a winning strategy in Bridge is efficient communication between the partners. The rules of the game allow only specific form of communication, of a very low complexity (effectively one has a strong limitations on number of exchanged bits). Surprisingly, our quantum technique is not violating the existing rules of the game (as there is no increase in information flow). We show that our quantum Bridge auction corresponds to a biased nonlocal Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt (CHSH) game, which is equivalent to a 2 → 1 quantum random access code. Thus our experiment is also a realization of such protocols. However, this correspondence is not full which enables the Bridge players to have efficient strategies regardless of the quality of their detectors.

The -opioid receptor in the brain 3 2 4 5 determined by the [tylosil-3,5- H(N)]-[D-Ala ,N-MePhe ,Gly-ol ]enkephalin binding assay was not significantly changed by a deletion of the dopamine D3 receptor gene. Furthermore, we found that no significant differences in G-protein activation by morphine in the limbic forebrain and lower midbrain were noted between the two genotypes. These results suggest that the function of the ␮-opioid receptor itself was not affected by a deletion of the dopamine D3 receptor gene. To ascertain the morphine-induced rewarding effect in both genotypes, the conditioned place preference paradigm was performed. Deletion of the dopamine D3 receptor gene resulted in a remark- able enhancement of the morphine-induced rewarding effect. Furthermore, knock-out mice with deletions of the dopamine D3 receptor revealedadramaticpotentiationofmorphine-inducedhyperlocomotion.Undertheseconditions,alossofthedopamineD3 receptorgene had no effect on the basal levels of dopamine and the increased dopamine turnover by morphine in the limbic forebrain.
