KSHS. 14.4 BILLION FOR ROAD MAINTENANCE IN 9 MONTHS ROADS BOARD FUND FY 2008/2009, 2009/2010

Kenya Roads Board is mandated to oversee the road network and thereby coordinate is development, maintenance funded by the fund and advise the Minister for Roads on all matters related thereto. The KRB Fund comprises of Road Maintenance Levy, Toll Collections and Agricultural cess. In the FY 2008/2009 approximately Kshs. 19 Billion was collected and disbursed. In the current financial year to March, 2010, KRB has released over Kshs. 14 billion towards maintenance of various categories of roads. KRB has continued to ensure that value for money is achieved in road maintenance. Kshs. 6.3 Billion was spent to service on-going contracts and a total length of 436 kilometres for ABC roads were rehabilitated in the FY 2008/2009. In the financial year 2009-2010 each constituency has received Kshs. 16Million.
