But Jesus is firmly rooted in His identity. Just before He went into the desert, He was baptized and heard the Father God Bless, say, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased” (Mt. 5:17). The Father says these same words to everyone who is baptized into His beloved Son. In fact, our Heavenly Father continuously speaks these words to us. St. John reminds us of this when he writes, “Beloved: See Fr. Przybilla Stewardship No, your eyes did not deceive you. Those trees on the south ends of the school were taken down last weekend. Why? Because they were declared dead by several tree service experts. We received a very reasonable bid to remove the trees, grind the stumps and beautify the oak nearest the canopy entrance to St. John’s Education Center. We plan to beautify the areas where the trees were removed by late Spring, with plans for a new large tree on the west side of the school. Just a note that because Sunday giving is down from plan and year ago, please consider increasing your Sunday giving in order to build and sustain our many ministries. Giving directly to the school, capital campaign or to our many other outreach needs are necessary, however, those dollars do not support the day to day parish operations, faith formation and worship needs which is what Sunday giving provides. Your generous gifts of time, talent and treasure bring life to our parish, and make our facilities beautiful, accessible and welcoming. Thank you for your generous giving! Thank you! On behalf of all retired men and women religious, priests and brothers, thank you for your support of the annual Religious Retirement Appeal: your generosity is a blessing to those who have given a lifetime! Our parish contribut- ed $5,794, which will enable many religious communities to meet their pressing retirement needs while continuing to serve the People of God. Your generosity contributes to the retirement planning of newer religious communities. 2 MARCH 1, 2020 FIRST SUNDAY OF LENT Dear St. Charles Parishioners, and moving time after Lent is over when we get to tell our prayer partners that we have been praying for them and This week we began our Lenten journey walking this journey with them. with Mass on Ash Wednesday.
