Mission Statement
Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV is an education and community service agency comprised of highly qualified staff who customize solutions to evolving challenges.

Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV was established on July 1, 1971 to replace the Office of the County Superintendent in order to better meet the needs of the public schools in a global society. The purpose of the MIU IV is to provide educational and consultative services to the 27 school districts in Butler, Lawrence and Mercer Counties. The Intermediate Unit is governed by a Board of thirteen members who serve three-year terms. Board members are elected from the public school directors in the three counties. The Executive Director is the administrative officer of the Board. It is the responsibility of the Executive Director to administer the policies of the Intermediate Unit Board of Directors.
