Mon. Tues. Wed. Thurs. Fri. Sat. ride for the Metropolitan District and the Ken-Caryl Ranch community. Currently, the District generates 38 percent of 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 its total revenues from sources other than property tax. A 7:30 a.m. majority includes fees for services and recreation programs. Architectural The initial Stay-at-Home order forced the cancellation of all Committee spring programs, events and facility rentals, so this led to an CANCELLED initial loss of $250,000 in revenues. That loss has grown as the Safer-at-Home order was enacted, programs were still 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 not allowed to resume, and facilities could not be reopened. 6 p.m. 4:30 p.m. As a result, the District is experiencing a nancial crisis. MA Board Covenant Sta worked to identify an operational plan for critical Meeting Committee operations only and is working from a cash ow perspective to ensure ongoing operations into 2021. Anything not viewed as critical to operations will 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 not be expended. This includes a long list of operational items that will certainly have an 6 p.m. 7 p.m. 7:30 a.m. Flick ‘n Float impact on the Ken-Caryl Ranch community, such as: the furloughing of 50 non-full-time Metro District Open Space Architectural CANCELLED employees, elimination of 18 seasonal parks maintenance employees, planned vacancies Board Committee Committee Meeting Dakota Lodge in three full-time positions, redeployment of full-time employees to areas of operations as needed, reduction of water use for irrigation, elimination of herbicide and fertilization 28 programs for turf, reduction in all operating supplies, reduction or elimination of contract 29 30 services, mandatory furlough days for full-time sta, and more. As the Safer-at-Home orders are lifted, programs begin, and facilities reopen, there will likely be a rush to use our public spaces. As you return to your beloved spaces and programs, the District’s sta will be there, just as they always have, to make your experience July as amazing as possible. Remember these dedicated individuals and their work, especially under the pressure of a nancial crisis, which will undoubtably result in noticeable Sun. Mon. Tues. Wed. Thurs. Fri. Sat. dierences for you as a resident. Restrictions for use will be in place. Turf may not be as green. Gardens may not be as manicured. Recreation programs may not be as large. Phone 1 2 3 4 calls and emails may not be returned as quickly. We are doing more with less. Mountain Biking Accident on Cougar Trail Per information obtained from West Metro Fire and Rescue’s Facebook page, on May 21, the unit’s professional reghter crews responded to a downed mountain biker o of the Cougar Trail. The Wildland Team UTV was used to access and transport the patient to the trailhead. The cyclist sustained serious injuries and was treated at a local hospital. Federal privacy laws prevent the release of any personal health information on the individual who was injured and we respect their right to privacy, however, we can conrm that the cyclist was in fact, a resident. We wish to thank all of West Metro Fire and Rescue’s Crew members for their quick action, including Engine 13, Medic 13, Truck 14, Engine 9, UTV9 and District 3 on the B-Shift who worked the scene, as well as the Jeerson County Sheri’s Oce for their assistance in this KEN-CARYL’Srescue eort. Whether it’s through a group exercise class, a women’s club, or a champion basketball team, LAAC helps us seize the day. We look to the future with hope and wonder. We build friendships, networks, and organizations that not only fortify ourselves, but also lay foundations for future generations. As we spoke with members of all ages about the Club’s effects on their lives, a prominent and common theme was that of camaraderie.

    8 Hollywood Fatherhood: Paternal Postfeminism in Contemporary Popular Cinema Hannah Hamad Contemporary Hollywood cinema is rife with representations of fatherhood since paternalised protagonists have become an increasingly and often overwhelmingly omnipresent feature of popular film in the early twenty-first century, while the currency of fatherhood as a defining component of ideal masculinity has emerged as a dominant cultural trope of postfeminism, and a structuring paradigm of mediated masculinity. This chapter addresses articulations of fatherhood in recent popular cinema which are discursively congruent with the sensibilities of postfeminist culture, exploring the ubiquity and centrality of fatherhood as the anchoring trope of the multiplicity of contemporary Hollywood masculinities. The summer of 2002 marked a watershed moment for what subsequently became the pronounced and widespread paternalisation of Hollywood’s cinematic output, when it saw the release of a small but significant cluster of films, all of which conspicuously pushed issues of fatherhood to the discursive fore. The films that comprised this group were Steven Spielberg’s man-on-the-run science-fiction action thriller Minority Report, Sam Mendes’ historical gangster melodrama Road to Perdition, and M. Night Shyamalan’s moody alien invasion drama Signs. All were high grossing and wide releases,1 star vehicles, and genre films. All showcased big name directors, and all featured narratives in which the goal of the protagonist was causally and hyperbolically linked to his fatherhood. Minority Report starred Tom Cruise as John Anderton, a guilt ridden traumatized father, struggling to solve the mystery of his son’s disappearance; Road to Perdition saw Tom Hanks playing against type as widowed single father Mike Sullivan, a small town mobster hit man determined to protect his son from his Chicago enemies after the boy witnesses a murder; and Mel Gibson starred in Signs as lapsed clergyman Graham Hess, a widowed single father protecting his children from malevolent and hostile extra-terrestrials.
