COMMUNITY EXPO A one-place stop for back-to-school preparations CFISD will host its first Community Expo on Online Registration Aug. 17 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Berry Center to provide parents and guardians with back-to-school services (listed on the right) Immunizations in a consolidated location. Booths will be set up throughout the Berry Center for online registration, transportation, food services, Employment Opportunities Club Rewind (before-/after-school program), health services and employment opportunities. Free/Reduced Lunch Applications Representatives from the Harris County Health Department will provide immunizations at no cost to families who have CHIP, Medicaid or CHIP Applications no health insurance. They will also be on hand to provide assistance in filling out CHIP and SNAP applications. INSIDE · 8 SPECIAL EDUCATION Educational services in CFISD are provided to an Services for estimated 8,000 students with special needs. Teachers, students with instructional aides, speech pathologists and related service personnel provide instruction and related services to disabilities students with disabilities from ages 3-21. Exceptions are made for students with hearing and vision disabilities, who may receive services from birth. Instructional services provided for elementary students include in-class support, resource classes and speech/language support. Preschool Programs for Children with Disabilities (PPCD), adaptive behavior and LIFE (Learning in Functional Environments) Skills classes for students are offered as cluster services at the elementary level. Secondary campuses offer similar services with the exception of PPCD. Those services include: in-class support, resource classes, LIFE Skills, adaptive behavior and speech/language services. Additional special education program options are the Carlton and Adaptive Behavior centers.     Report of 2009-2010 High School Graduates’ Enrollment and Academic Performance in Texas Public Higher Education in FY 2011 Texas statute requires every school district to include, with their performance report, information received under Texas Education Code §51.403(e). This information, provided to districts from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), reports on student performance in postsecondary institutions during the first year enrolled after graduation from high school. Student performance is measured by the Grade Point Average (GPA) earned by 2009- 2010 high school graduates who attended public four-year and two-year higher education in FY 2011. The data is presented alphabetically for each county, school district and high school. The bookmarks can be used to select the first letter of a county. Then the user can scroll down to the desired county, school district and high school. For each student, the grade points and college-level semester credit hours earned by a student in fall 2010, spring 2011, and summer 2011 are added together and averaged to determine the GPA. These GPAs are accumulated in a range of five categories from < 2.0 to > 3.5. If a GPA could not be calculated for some reason, that student is placed in the “Unknown” column. GPA data is only available for students attending public higher education institutions in Texas. If a high school has fewer than five students attending four-year or two-year public higher education institutions, the number of students is shown but no GPA breakout is given. If a student attended both a four-year and a two-year institution in FY 2011, the student’s GPA is shown in the type of institution where the most semester credit hours were earned.
