One of the important functions of the NGRBA is to prepare and implement a Ganga River Basin Management Plan (GRBMP). A Consortium of 7 Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) has been given the responsibility of preparing Ganga River Basin Management Plan (GRBMP) by the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF), GOI, New Delhi. Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) has been signed between 7 IITs (Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee) and MoEF for this purpose on July 6, 2010. This report is one of the many reports prepared by IITs to describe the strategy, information, methodology, analysis and suggestions and recommendations in developing Ganga River Basin Management Plan (GRBMP). The overall Frame Work for documentation of GRBMP and Indexing of Reports is presented on the inside cover page. There are two aspects to the development of GRBMP.

  • Study of Impact of Coal Mines on Environment in Madhya Pradesh
Bagga Keerat Kaur, International Journal of Advance Research, Ideas and Innovations in Technology. ISSN: 2454-132X Impact factor: 4.295 (Volume3, Issue6) Available online at www.ijariit.com Study of Impact of Coal Mines on Environment in Madhya Pradesh Keerat Kaur Bagga PG Scholar Environmental Science Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Amarkantak, Madhya Pradesh [email protected] Abstract: The Sohagpur coalfield is a remnant of the Son valley basin of Gondwana deposition and can be subdivided into three major sub basins from west to east: Rungta-Amlai, Kotma, and Bijuri. Thick coal seams occur in the Barakar Formation (Lower Permian) and are being worked extensively. In this paper, we have studied various researches and studies on the impact of coal mines. First, we have collected the papers which were useful to our requirement of studies. Then we collected data related to coal mines in Madhya Pradesh. We have chosen our study area as sohagpur coal fields in which Sharda block was specified for all the readings. After analyzing every assessment on coal mine we came to the point that groundwater running across mines is most affected by mining activities. Deforestation, air quality is also getting effected by mining activities. There were lots of studies based on ground water contamination in coal mines. We have briefed in our paper about that analysis. Keywords: Coal Mines, Assessment, Mining, Deforestation, Ground Water. I. INTRODUCTION Mineral plays an important role in the economic development of the country as the mineral is the basic raw materials to promote the growth. The development and extent of judicious utilization of minerals resources add to the index of growth of a nation and its people.

  • Summary of Eia of Dhanpuri-Amlai Group of Oc Mines (4.75 Mty Peak Capacity) for Public Hearing
Public Hearing Document for Dhanpuri-Amlai group of mines SUMMARY OF EIA OF DHANPURI-AMLAI GROUP OF OC MINES (4.75 MTY PEAK CAPACITY) FOR PUBLIC HEARING 1.0 Purpose Dhanpuri and Amlai OC Expansion Sector B (4.75 Mty) is planned in the Dhanpuri geological block. The Dhanpuri geological block has been divided into four sectors i.e. A,B ,C & D separated by geological faults. Out of these four sectors, only sector B has been left virgin. Amlai OC which is being operated on the northern side of Sector ‘A’ is on the verge of exhaustion. The PR for Dhanpuri and Amlai OC Expansion Sector B is being planned to replace the existing Amlai OC. Amlai OC which is being operated on the northern side of Sector ‘A’ of Dhanpuri Geological Block is nearing the quarriable limit. The left out reserve will last for couple of years. For gainful utilization of existing resources another patch i.e. Sector ‘B’ of Dhanpuri Geological Block is proposed to be opened. Therefore, preparation of PR for Dhanpuri and Amlai OC Expansion (Sector B) (4.75 Mty) with enhanced coal production and extended life is proposed with a view to fulfill the growth in demand. To meet the requirement of non coking coal in the country for power generation this mine has been identified as one of the project and it is proposed to expand the mine to produce 4.75 MTY of coal. The life of the projects are about 11 years for Dhanpuri OC and 15 years for Amlai oc (sector B).
