F. Initiating, Developing and Managing InnovativeIntervention Models and Projects a. Development and implementation of innovative models and programs – in Israel During the last 20 year, I have initiated and developed models for treatment and community interventions. These included the promotion of innovative early intervention programs for children, parents and caregivers, which were applied in kindergarten, daycares and family daycares. Additional programs that I developed focused on pre-natal psychology and emergency interventions after terror attacks, wars and fires. These were applied on early childhood, in schools and among the Ehtiopian population. These interdisciplinary models were based on literary reviews and existing research, detection of theoretical gaps and development of models accordingly. Below are some of the details of these projects, for which I have won awards, such as Recanati-Chais-Rashi from the Kenesset and the prime minister's Prize for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and the Wizo award for Women Break Through. Some examples:

2004 Devised and established the Parents and Babies Accompanying Project in cooperation with Wizo Neve David (as part of the projects being conducted at the Interdisciplinary Clinical Center). models, nationwide and worldwide. As a result of my international recognition in various circles and countries, and due to my work in the field of psychotherapy, emergency and early childhood interventions, many organizations and institutions (e.g., hospitals, university centers) have and still approach me in order to share with them the models that I have developed and to help in their implementations. Similarly, many professionals have arrived to Israel in order to study the implementation of models. In addition to the spreading and application of knowledge, I have been involved in the development of models in research, which were published.

The broad and continuous therapeutic experience I have gained over the years covers the areas of social work and individual, couples, and family psychotherapy. The use of a variety of therapeutic approaches has provided me with productive ideas for teaching, research, and the preparation of study programs. My therapeutic experience enables me to mediate between practice, theory and research. One of the aims of my activities was to bridge between academy and the community. This aim led to productive collaborations with various institutes, nationwide and worldwide.

At the onset of my professional career, I worked with children, adolescents and adults. At the Technion’s Psychological Services, I specialized in psychotherapy for young adults with different problems, relied on classic and current psychodynamic theories, psychosocial approaches, and cognitive and behavioral therapy, as well as various approaches in family therapy. I worked with individuals and supervised many therapy groups. As a result, I was approached by different institutions from all over the world, such as Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), which funded therapy for professionals in High-Tech and diplomatic positions.

At the "Rambam" Medical Center, I gained experience working in the ambulatory clinic, treating the community's mentally ill residents and their families. These inspire academic writing and aid in the development of international relations with hospitals.

During the 1980s, parallel to my work at "Rambam," I opened a private clinic, which is active today, in which I practice psychotherapy, providing primarily long-term treatment with a psychodynamic approach, treating adult populations and supervising professionals in mental health.

Today, my focus is on knowledge utilization in practice by the implementation of theory of broad dynamic approaches in order understand and handle social problems and distresses, In addition the utilization efforts are also implemented to constructing therapy programs and effective intervention tools for populations in distress that are within the scope of the social work profession.

I perceive teaching at the School of Social Work and my research in clinical areas to be a productive amalgamation of my expertise that contributes to the School’s teaching program. My experience helps develop different programs in the area of psychotherapy, welfare and health for students with graduate academic degrees.

My tenure as chairman of the Israel Association for Psychotherapy enabled me to

promote the professionalization of the field f of psychotherapy, as well as the status and professionalization of psychotherapists in Israel.

At the initiative of the Dean of Faculty of Social welfare and health Sciences, I established in 2002 the Interdisciplinary Clinical Center, and since then I am acting as the Center’s head. We established the Interdisciplinary Clinical Center (ICC) – a unique healthcare facility that integrates innovative research, teaching, training and clinical services to address Israel's increasingly acute social and healthcare challenges. The Interdisciplinary Clinical Center provides a unique model of diverse offerings of therapeutic and diagnostic services under one roof in the areas of physical and mental health for vulnerable and at-risk populations. The effectiveness of these models is continuously evaluated. My research and projects reflect the needs of the Clinical Center in accordance with the different specializations of our faculty

In addition to daily management duties as the head of the Interdisciplinary Clinical Center, outlining its vision and supervising the professional staff, I am ongoingly involved in fund raising. So far I have raised about 1,500,000 shekels: 700,000 shekels in the past few years of the center's existence and about 800,000 shekels for future community programs that will be accompanied by evaluation research. Currently about 40 professionals in different research and practice areas are working at the center.

As recognition of these activities we have been awarded the Recanati-Chais-Rashi award for the Enterpriser Social Worker 2009 in recognition for initiating and implementing an interdisciplinary intervention project for children in low income areas of Haifa. The project focused on early identification and treatment of emotional, behavioral, linguistic, and sensorimotor developmental problems. Psychologists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists entered kindergartens and worked in collaboration with the teachers to give treatment services to children and supervision to their parents. The Recanati-Chais-Rashi award was awarded by Minister of Welfare in the Knesset.

I received in 2012 the Prime Minister's Prize for "Entrepreneurship and Innovation not for financial gain" for the Early Intervention Model that was developed in the Clinical Center. In recent years I have been busy assimilating the model in Israel and around the world.

I continue to combine practice and research in order to develop new treatment models, which will be tested empirically. In recent years, I have promoted the field of pre- and perinatal psychology in Israel and internationally through study groups, research, and the development of intervention models.

Over the years I was invited by publishers and editors to provide professional articles and books reviews. I have accepted the offers and it inspired and enriched my professional world.

The book written by me and Prof. Witztum "As death, love"; difficulties in love relationships, was accepted for publication. This field has become a research area for me in recent years which I plan to continue. Overall my future plans are geared around the concept of knowledge utilization in practice and developing new knowledge from practice.
