HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 78

1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE MEMBERS OF PHI THETA 2 KAPPA'S ALL- ACADEMIC TEAM ON THE OCCASION OF 3 "MISSISSIPPI PHI THETA KAPPA DAY." 4 WHEREAS, on March 25, 2009, members of Phi Theta Kappa, a 5 revered honor society for community and junior colleges, which has 6 its worldwide headquarters in Jackson, Mississippi, will celebrate 7 "Mississippi Phi Theta Kappa Day"; and 8 WHEREAS, special acclamations are offered to the exceptional

9 scholars who comprise Phi Theta Kappa's All-Mississippi Academic

10 Team, a group of exceedingly successful community and junior 11 college students assembled by the Mississippi State Board for 12 Community and Junior Colleges, to partake in the Phi Theta Kappa's 13 All-Mississippi Academic Team competition; and 14 WHEREAS, the following scholars have been recognized as 15 members of the 2009 All-Mississippi Academic Team: Saint Ranson, 16 Coahoma Community College in Clarksdale; Edward Seals, Coahoma 17 Community College in Clarksdale; Ashlee Richardson, Copiah-Lincoln

66 WHEREAS, the commendable and dedicated efforts of the members 67 of Phi Theta Kappa's All-Mississippi Academic Team have produced 68 immense respect and appreciation for themselves and their academic 69 institutions; and 70 WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to commend the 71 accomplishments of students who bring honor to their colleges and 72 to the State of Mississippi: 73 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF

74 REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING 75 THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the members of 76 Phi Theta Kappa's All-Mississippi Academic Team and extend 77 heartiest wishes for success in all of their future endeavors. 78 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be 79 furnished to Phi Theta Kappa and to the members of the Capitol 80 Press Corps.
