Open Response Question ORQ: Floor Plan (after section 4.9) Another one on test Identify specific daily outcomes to reach the Core Content and Program of Studies goals. Plan activities and formative assessments (i.e., exit slips, bell ringers, flashbacks, etc. ) that lead to student mastery. Daily Learner Outcome (DOK Level): I will be able to expand a simple exponent as well as write an expanded term as an exponent. (Section 4.1)

Related Activities: Students will take a pre-test to grasp current level of understanding. Students will be taught how to write expanded terms and how to evaluate terms involving exponents.

Formative Assessment: Rewrite using exponents 1. 2.a.4.b.b 2. (-1).x.x.x.y.(2y) Evaluate if x = -2 and y = 3 3. X3 4. (x+y)2

Daily Learner Outcome (DOK Level): I will be able to add and subtract polynomial expressions. (Section 4.2)

Related Activities: Students will learn terms such as monomials, binomials, trinomials, and polynomials. Students will learn to find like terms and combine them. Emphasis will be placed on the process of subtraction of polynomials.

Formative Assessment: Simplify : 1. (3x3 + 4x2 + 3 ) + (8x3 -2 + 5x2) 2. (4xy – 5x2) – (-8x2 + 2xy)

Daily Learner Outcome (DOK Level): I will be able to multiply a monomial by a monomial. (Section 4.3)

Related Activities: Students can explore how to multiply monomials by rewriting terms in an expanded form and them creating the simplified answer in order to learn the rules of multiplying monomials. There is a work-along worksheet for the exploration. aman = am+n

Formative Assessment: 1. (b5)(8b3) 2. (7xy2)(5x2y3)

Daily Learner Outcome (DOK Level): I will be able to multiply a polynomial by a monomial. (Section 4.5)

Related Activities: Students will use the distributive property combined with lesson 4.3 to multiply polynomials by monomials. Students will be able to practice combining like terms once they performed the multiplication once again practicing order of operations.

Formative Assessment: 1. Multiply 7(x+2) 2. Multiply 3a2b(2b2 + 4ab)

Formative Assessment: Quiz over previous sections

Daily Learner Outcome (DOK Level): I will be able to raise powers to powers. (Section 4.4) Related Activities: Students can explore how to raise monomials to powers by rewriting terms in an expanded form and them creating the simplified answer in order to learn the rules of raising monomials to powers.
