AVID?
AVID is designed to increase school-wide learning and performance. The mission of AVID is to assist all students—especially the least served students—to succeed in a rigorous curriculum and to enroll in a four-year university.
AVID OBJECTIVES
※ To provide students with academic instruction and other support in preparation for eligibility to enter a four year college or university.
※ To improve students’ study and organizational skills.
※ To motivate AVID students to seek a college education.
※ To increase students’ level of career awareness.
WHO MAY APPLY
The AVID program is for students who have been traditionally underrepresented at public universities.
THESE STUDENTS MUST
※ Want to go to college.
※ Have good work habits.
※ Have satisfactory school citizenship.
※ Be willing to commit themselves to a minimum of two hours of homework/study each night.
※ Attend summer school (if necessary).
AVID PROVIDES
※ Classroom tutorials with AVID trained tutors.
※ Field trips to colleges, museums, cultural events.
※ College application counseling.
※ Financial Aid & Scholarship Counseling.
※ College Testing Preparation.
