SRB: Newspaper Portfolio Assignment

Every week you will have time to search the newspaper for two interesting articles in class, but your role as an informed citizen means that you should already have a wealth of current event knowledge to expand upon.

Once you have chosen the articles you will fill out the summary sheet. If you are absent on the lab day, you must find the articles on your own.

The expectation for the newspaper assignment is that you will have articles that you can give a detailed description of how you can actually become an active participant in the issue. A level 4 mark will only be awarded to those who have demonstrated that they actually have participated somehow in regards to that issue. For example, you have some evidence that you; participated in a town hall meeting, have written a letter to your MP, MLA, mayor, councilperson, or editor of the newspaper, created a petition, facebook group etc. There needs to be evidence that your participation was done well before the end of the course and that you show a great deal of understanding of the issue.

The teacher will check your progress and understanding of the articles you have chosen. CHV20 Summative Newspaper Assignment Sheet
