AHOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THEBOILING SPRINGSHIGH SCHOOL GOLF TEAM, COACHES, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS FOR AN OUTSTANDING SEASON AND TO CONGRATULATE THEM FOR WINNING THE 2015CLASSAAAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that the members of the Boiling SpringsHigh School golf team of Spartanburg County took top honors at the state competition at Furman on Tuesday, May 19, 2015; and

Whereas, to the delight of their fans, the Boiling SpringsBulldogs took the finalround with a score of 292 against Easley High School to take home their second straight state trophy with a ten-stroke victory of 595605; and

Whereas, the Easley Green Wave and the Bulldogs tied at 303 after the first round, and then storms in the area suspended the second round on Monday, shortening the tournament from 54 to 36 holes; and

Whereas,with five holes remaining, the top four teams were still battling for the lead when the Bulldogs managed to pull away and cap their yearlong successes with the state championship; and

Whereas, Trent Phillips, who led Boiling Springs, finished withthe firstplace individual medal posting a sixunderscore of 138. His older brother, Trevor Phillips, earned the tournament thirdplace finish with a score of 145. TeammatesCole Hair, Harrison Corbin, and Josh Sprouse finished with twoday scores of 154,158, and 167, respectively; and

Whereas, in a sport that demandsstrategy and skill on the fairways and greens, Head Coach Josh Pruitt and his talented coaching staff capitalized on their own athletic ability and training to hone a team of champions and teach these athletes lessons that will prove invaluable through life both on and off the fairways; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives appreciate the pride and recognition that theBoiling Springsgolfers have brought to their school and their community and look to hear of their continued success in the days ahead. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor the Boiling SpringsHigh School golfteam, coaches, and school officials for an outstanding season and congratulate them for winning the 2015ClassAAAAState Championship title.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Principal Chuck Gordon and Coach Josh Pruitt.
