Save the Children in Serbia seeks a NFI/Shelter Officer, to be based in Belgrade, with frequent travels to field locations. The job holder’s role is:

Be responsible for ensuring proper planning and implementation of Shelter/NFI projects in Save the Children field locations including Belgrade, Presevo, Sid and Dimitrovgrad.

To play a key role in sectoral assessments, project planning, procurement, logistic arrangements, monitoring and reporting for multi-site distribution.

Be responsible for ensuring that all distribution processes are in accordance with Save the Children Global and National standards, as well as donor guidelines and procedures.

Prepare and manage program activities involving shelter/NFI distributions including coordinating all necessary arrangements with SC staff and partner staff at distribution sites.

Duration of the post: six months with possibility of an extension.

CHILD SAFEGUARDING:

Level 3 – the responsibilities of the post may require the post holder to have regular contact with or access to children or young people

The successful candidate should have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities through a combination of formal schooling, self-education, prior experience, or on-the-job training.

  • University or College Graduate with at least 2 year’s experience working in humanitarian context
  • Ability to work simultaneously with multiple tasks and under time pressures in a fast growing program environment
  • Previous experience in Logistics/ Distributions with other NGO or Private Organization
  • Excellent knowledge of Humanitarian Field and associated working environment
  • Previous experience of project management, including multi sector programmes
  • Budget management experience including institutional donor requirements
  • Field level representation with key stakeholders and co-ordination with other NGOs/UN
  • Demonstrable experience of M&E and beneficiary accountability
  • Ability to write clear and well-argued assessment and project reports
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy
  • A high level of written and spoken English
  • The capacity and willingness to be extremely flexible and accommodating in difficult and sometimes insecure working circumstances.
  • Commitment to the aims and principles of Save the Children. In particular, a good understanding of the Save the Children’s mandate and child focus and an ability to ensure this continues to underpin our support to beneficiaries.
  • Language skills in Arabic, Farsi, Urdu are a strong asset
  • Experience or knowledge of working and living in relevant regions/contexts is desirable
  • Specific experience of designing and managing DFID, ECHO, OFDA and other major donor projects
