My name is Rashid Al Marri. I'm a student at the Academic Bridge in the Education City in Doha, Qatar. In fact, I was a student at Mohammed Bin AbdulWahab Independent High School last year. I passed Grade 12 exams and got very good results. I got 85 % in most of the exams I had taken. However, my English was not perfect. I made more than 3 TOEFL tests and one IELTS test. My highest score in TOEFL was only 450 and my highest score in IELTS was only 4. The Higher Institute in the Supreme Education Council helped me very much to join the Academic Bridge to improve my levels in English, Math and ICT. Honestly, I believe that my English has been progressing rapidly. I really hope to get 550 in TOEFL test and join Carnegie Mellon University where I can study Business Administration.

My parents encouraged me to join the Academic Bridge. My mother promised me not to ask me to do extra duties. My father bought me a car to go by to Qatar Foundation. Of course, I joined a driving course and got a driving license earlier. He also opened a current account for me in Qatar Islamic International Bank (QIIB). He deposited 10000 QR in my account and promised to increase the deposit if I showed a progress.

Every time I need some money I go to the Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) in any booth in Doha, and insert my ATM card into the card slot. The ATM computer asks me to type the PIN and choose what kind of service I want. For example, if I want to withdraw 500 QR, I press the button next the word 500 and I get my money and a paper statement which shows my balance. Such a service is really wonderful. Sometimes my father travels abroad or has no money in his pocket. I go the ATM nearby and get all the money I want. Of course, I spend money buying new books, filling my car with petrol, and doing other useful things. Every month I receive a bank statement which shows my withdraws, my deposits and my balance.

I am a very happy student. I have very good friends at the Academic Bridge. We always share ideas, work in groups and help one another.
