We will be using a class set of books – THESE ARE NOT TO LEAVE THE ROOM, EVER. AS IN FOREVER, EVER, EVER.

Welcome to U.S. History class. This class will cover the time period from post-Civil War to current time. Throughout this year, we will be involved in a variety of activities to expand your understanding of this period in American history. In addition, we will look at current events throughout the course because today’s current events are tomorrow’s history.

What follows is an explanation of the requirements, expectations, procedures and grading format that I will follow for the school year. I strongly advise you to become familiar with these procedures in order to avoid any possible misunderstandings throughout the year. Students who read and follow these procedures will be ensured a successful academic year and an enjoyable classroom experience.

·  For all other late work, you will have one day only to turn in the assignment for half credit.

It is your responsibility to find out what work you have missed. Please check the website or Google Classroom for your make-up work or see me in the Social Studies Office. Always check with me to find out what you missed while you were absent!

HOMEWORK

·  Homework is given to increase your understanding of material taught in class and to prepare you for the next day’s lesson.

·  Homework assignments will be posted on the Mayfield website at www.mayfieldschools.org on my teacher website, or in Google Classroom. Get in the habit of checking both places.

·  If you need assistance on an assignment, please see me for help. I am here to help you. Don’t wait until you are too far behind.
