To request that principals submit contact information on the 2017-2018 Science Department Chairperson, Science Liaison, and Leaders/Coach contact information.
  • The Department of Science is requesting that principals designate a Science Department Chairperson, Science Liaison, or Science Coach/Leader, if applicable, and provide that individual’s contact information.
  • The Science Department Chairperson and/or the Science Liaison/Coach will participate in District science professional learning activities, guide the science professional learning communities at the school site, inform teachers of up-to-date science information, and provide support to school-site curriculum leaders and teachers.
  • The Science Chairperson/Liaison/Coach should be a Grade 5, Grade 8 or Biology teacher since the objective of monthly meetings will focus on best practices and instructional resources leading to mastery of the Grade 5, Grade 8 and Biology curriculum and subsequent successful performance on the Statewide Science Assessment and Biology EOC.
Principals and Assistant Principals interested in adding their names to the distribution lists will receive the same emails sent to these selected individuals.
  • Please complete the Contact Information Form for the appropriate level(s) identifying the Science Department Chairperson, Science Liaison/Coach, and Curriculum Administrator (optional) at the following links. Please note that combination schools (K-8 centers, 6-12, K-12, etc.) should submit information for each level at the school:

  • Submission timeframe: Thursday, August 24, 2017 – Thursday, September 7, 2017.
  • In light of the District STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) initiative and subsequent media coverage on the importance of showcasing student investigations at venues like the Miami-Dade STEAM Expo, it is imperative that schools submit contact information within the timeframe, since the first meeting is scheduled for the second week of September 2017.
