Adding Parishes and Diocesan Resource Representatives to the “As One” Project

A presentation on the “As One” Project was well received by the Deans. They will share the information with the parishes in their Deaneries, and bring back the names of parishes interested in being added to the project at their February meeting. Work is being done concurrently to determine who can serve as Diocesan Resource Representatives to support the new parishes.

Building Intercultural Competence for Ministers

Responding to the expressed needs of the “As One” parishes, the Diocese is partnering with the Congar Institute to bring training on Building Intercultural Competence for Ministers to the Diocese. Training for lay staff of the “As One” parishes and the Pastoral Center, as well as a few deacons will take place May 5-7. Training for priests will take place during Convocation, the week of May 8. A follow up training for other parishes and deacons is anticipated in Fall, 2017.
July, 2017 Convocation for Diocesan Leaders

The USCCB is hosting The Convocation of Catholic Leaders: The Joy of the Gospel in America. This convocation will take place in July for Diocesan leadership teams with their bishops. Bishop Blaire is interested in participating, and is securing outside funding for a small delegation from the Diocese.
“As One” Parish Updates
No new issues have arisen from the As One parishes. Progress has been made on requests already submitted:

-The healing program to meet the needs of catechists who have been sexually abused and who are being asked to teach the “Circle of Grace” program will take place at St. Stanislaus parish on August 4, 2017.

-Training for Intercultural competence is scheduled. (See above)

-The connection with the As One pastors by the DRRs continues to be positive.
