The annual dinner of the SCSBA is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at The Eagles Nest. At this dinner, the Outstanding Educator and Friend to Education awards will be given.

Please copy and distribute the award criteria on page 2 to all Board of Education members and consider making a nomination this year in one or both categories.

Outstanding Educator Award and Outstanding Friend to Education Award 2014

Outstanding Educator Award Purpose: to annually honor an educator who has made a significant impact on the education of children in Sullivan County.

Eligibility: the individual must be an educator who is or has been employed by a public school in the Sullivan County school districts.

Outstanding Friend to Education Award Purpose: to annually honor an individual who has made an impact on the education of children in Sullivan County.

Eligibility: the individual must be a resident of a Sullivan County school district who has contributed to the advancement of education.

Nominations: A nomination in one or both of the two categories may be made by a School Board, that is a current member of the Sullivan County School Boards Association. A nomination must be made in letter form naming the individual, and detailing the contribution this person has made to education.

Deadline: Nominations must be received by March 31, 2014

Selection: The Executive Board of the Sullivan County School Boards Association will set up a nomination committee that will select honoree(s) no later than April 30th. Announcements will be made at that time.

The Award: The selected recipient(s) will receive a plaque at the Annual Dinner of the Sullivan County School Boards Association, which will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 (place The Eagles Nest). The Association pays for dinner for each honoree and his/her guest. A Board of Education member or a designee from the recipient’s school district will speak on behalf of the awardee.
