Chief Justice Pro-temp Selection – Chief Justice Hernandez decided to forgo the selection of a Chief Jutice Pro-temp since it has taken too long to select one of the candidates. Since their initial nominations both nominees have never been present at the same time to establish their case as to why they should be selected. Being so late into the semester the Court will continue to run without a Chief Justice Pro-temp. For this matter Senior Most Justice Rodriguez was notified that he could be called upon to lead the Court should the Chief Justice need to recuse herself or leave the branch all together, he was in agreement.

B.) Elections Committee – The branch was informed that the Elections Committee has continued to meet on Thursdays from 2-3pm in room VL-103 to plan out the Spring 2016 General Elections. They were further informed that very few candidates have joined the election. New Business A.) Elections Update – The court was informed that with such a small candidate turn out the application could possibly be extended.

B.) Legal Review – This case did not involve a “versus/defendant” 2nd party. Rather it was 3 members of the ASGSAC seeking the Court’s interpretation of the Constitution. They sought an interpretation regarding where exactly the Chief Justice fell within the ASGSAC’s governing document and thus what rules governed their term/appointment in office. The Court ruled that the Chief Justice is governed by the Judicial Code and that their term/appointment lasts the “life time” of an ASG member, as long as they met the membership requirements and maintained eligibility.
