Latin 7 Syllabus Introduction:

Welcome to Latin! In this class, you will learn skills that will help you in all subject areas. You will learn about the Latin language and the history of Rome. We will also focus on how to apply Latin and concepts from Roman history and culture into today’s world. It is my hope that you find this class valuable and that you learn skills that you can apply to every day life. I am very excited to have you in my class this year and I am hoping to have a very fun-filled and rewarding school year!

Synopsis:

Latin 7 will cover these topics: basic Latin syntax and semantics, Roman history, Roman culture and every day life, mythology, and etymology.

Materials Needed:

Students are asked to bring the following items:  A 5 subject notebook. Each section should be labeled as: 1- Language, 2- Culture, 3- Mythology, 4- History, and 5- Modern Applications.  A 3 ring binder (2-3 Inches recommended) with 5 dividers. The dividers should be labeled the same way as the sections in notebook.  Pencils or pens  Index cards  Extra loose leaf paper

Grading Policy

All grades in this class are cumulative. For example, if a student scores 9/10 on a homework assignment, 85/90 on a test, and 90/100 on a project their grade will be calculated by their points earned divided by the total potential points. e.g. 9+85+90 = 184 out of 200 potential points, therefore their grade would be 92%.

Assessments may include, but are not limited to: homework assignments, notebook checks, quizzes, tests, projects, and formal writing assignments. Extra credit assignments are occasionally assigned by the teacher. Students are expected to act with integrity. Academic dishonesty will result in a loss of credit. Classroom Rules and Consequences:
