The State Election Commission has indicated that the impact to the agency would be approximately $132,300 in nonrecurring general funds to include operating expenses of $70,00 and $62,300 for poll workers.

Operating expenses include $5,00 for election notices, $15,000 for miscellaneous expenses (i.e. postage, forms, rent of polling places, court reporters), and $50,000 for changes to the master computer file.

In a survey of the 13 counties which would be required to conduct elections pursuant to the legislation , six counties indicate estimated costs for a primary, run-off and November election ranging from $2,380 to $81,794 for a total cost of $156,545. The estimates from the remainder of the counties will be provided upon receipt of the information.
