PersonnelPolicies

Personnelpoliciesserveasaguideforstaffastheycanbecomefamiliarwithyourprogram.Itisanopportunityforyoutocommunicatetostafftheinformationthattheywillneedtoknowsotheywillhaveaclearunderstandingofpoliciesandproceduresthatguideeverydayoperationandprogramming.PersonnelPoliciesareusually compiledintoaStaffHandbookthat is atool thatcan used in orientationfor new staff as well as aguide forexistingstaff.

Programsshouldincludeanyinformationtheyfeelrelevantalongwithinformationinregulation7.04(17)(l)whichstates“Inprogramswithfourormorepaidstaffthelicenseemustdescribe,inwriting,theprogram'scurrentpersonnelpoliciesandpracticesandmustmake themavailable toall employeesand prospective employeesat the program.”

Asrequiredby7.04(17)(l), a program’sPersonnelPolicies must include the following:

1.Thecriteriaandproceduresforhiring,promotion,probationaryperiods,disciplining,suspension,anddismissal ofanystaffperson

2.The procedurefor handlingstaff complaints

3.Theprocedureforhandlingallegationsofchildabuseorneglectagainstastaffmember,includingthe requirements of 7.11(4)(e) and (f)which are:

  • NotifyingEECimmediatelyafterfilingorlearningthata51Ahasbeenfiledallegingabuseorneglectofachildwhileinthecareoftheprogramorduringaprogram-relatedactivity
  • NotifyingEECimmediatelyuponlearningthatareporthasbeenfilednaminganeducatorasanallegedperpetrator of abuse or neglect ofachild

4.Job descriptionsfor allpaideducator positions

5.Thesalaryrangecoveringallpositions.Thelicenseemustprovideeachemployeewithinformationregardingthesalaryrangeforhis/herpositionortheprocedurefordeterminingthesalaryfor his/her position.
