Vermont Principals’ Association

Professional Learning & Support Committee

Membership Request and Application

The Executive Council of the Vermont Principals’ Association created the Professional Learning and Support Committee in May of 2013. The PL&S Committee will coordinate professional and leadership development activities for and with the VPA. The Committee will work closely with the VPA Executive Director and the VPA Development Coordinator. The VPA Development Coordinator staffs the PL&S Committee.

The current scope of the PL&S Committee’s responsibilities includes:

·  Planning and hosting the VPA summer Leadership Academy (production is done by VPA staff)

·  Providing support to members (and other educational leaders) by hosting seasonal, regional meetings for Principals

·  Overseeing the VPA mentoring program

·  Producing seminars, summits and workshops during the year in response to professional development needs of education leaders and VPA members

·  Development of the PD portion of the VPA’s annual membership survey, and evaluation of the results

The PL&S Committee meets at least five times a year. The current school year’s dates are listed on the PL&S page on the VPA website.

The PL&S Committee seeks new members annually to plan, organize and support professional learning activities for VPA members (and beyond). The committee seeks Principals, Assistant Principals and Tech Center Directors who represent elementary, middle and secondary schools, as well as the demographic and geographic diversity of Vermont.

If you are interested in becoming a member of the VPA Professional Learning & Support Committee, please complete the application on the next page and return to Linda Wheatley, Development Coordinator at the VPA. Thank you! Questions?
