The ladies have been in their positions now for 18 months and keeping up skills in every facet of their role is the main objective. Both will benefit greatly from this transition as will all staff and residents.

With the small whisper of a possible third home for Westlakes Access & Support there will be more changes ahead.

Our May staff meeting incorporated training on Human Rights – Abuse & Neglect Zero Tolerance: a framework to prevent and improve sector responses to abuse, neglect & violence experienced by people with a disability.

Trek 4 Kids Wishing Rachel Cameron a successful journey, embarking on a 226km, 16 day walk to help raise money for kids with cancer. Hopefully the days are not too hot and the nights too cold. I am sure Rachel will return to work a lot fitter and not too many blisters on her feet.

Winter Care

Newsletter Westlakes Access & Support Author- Kathy Cameron Editor- Cathy Gill 15/3/17 V.2.0 Now that the cold weather is upon us a reminder to take care of ourselves. Make sure all heaters are turned off when going to bed. Do Not put any clothes over heaters to dry. Have all fire alarms checked. Most people struggle with the ever increasing electricity bills. So if it’s cold pull a rug over your knees when watching TV, Wear socks on your feet, gloves on your hands and a beanie on your head and you will be surprised how warm this will keep you. Sloppy joe’s and trackie daks make great winter PJ’s. You may not win a beauty contest, but who cares. Good thing about it you can jump out of bed and you are already dressed!

School Holidays are upon us again Beginning Friday 30th June and finish on Tuesday 18th July. Remember if travelling, stay safe, have a break every two hours, share the driving if possible. Keep to the speed limit and drive to the conditions. Please Do Not Text or answer the phone while driving. You can return a call or text at your next pit stop. To try and avoid the “Are we there yet” question from the kids try and think up some games like “I Spy”. Singing songs no matter how bad you sound make travelling with kids & adults…… fun.

Care Bears

We put an entry into OZ LOTTO’S 40 million draw, no big win. Just have to keep trying.

Kathy’s Words of Wisdom For May
