I. Call to Order

Speaker Gabriela Bedolla called to order the regular meeting of the Undergraduate Student Government at 5:16 on Thursday, November 5, 2015 in the Commuter Student Resource Center.

II. Roll Call

The following persons were present: Mercedez Jones, Flordalia Rodriguez-Garcia, Christen Lee, Gabriela Bedolla, David Lin, Asha Binbek, Evelyn Rocha, Sun Choi, Joe Anderson, Pooja Baxi, Christian Goddard, Xiaoyan Hu, Peter Varughese, Ahmad Albannna

III. Approval of the minutes from last meeting

There was a motion to approve the minutes made by Asha. The meeting minutes were approved.

IV. Approval of the agenda

Motion to add Flordalia to the minutes. Approved.

Motion to move Resolution 2015-8F-600 to the front of New Business. Approved.

Motion to remove Nancy Garcia from guest speaker. Approved.

Motion to remove 2015-8F-600 from the agenda. Approved.

Motion to approve the agenda. The agenda was approved.

V. Ceremonial Induction(s):

·  Ahmed Albannna sworn in as Assembly Member.

VII. Reports

Executive

Advisor Dean DuJuan Smith / Would like to remind all that he is there for us as an advisory role, and wishes to support everyone on the Student Government in their initiatives wherever possible.
Student Member of Board of Trustees Jauwan Hall / Not present.
President Mercedez Jones / Talked about non-smoking policy and the meeting with Dr. Henly, Dean Smith, Sun and Pooja. Mercedez and Joe had a meeting with the Chancellor about the non-smoking policy as well.
Going to have a meeting with Marissa on November 11 on student adovacy.
The Chicago Tribune reached out to Mercedez about publicity. Going to have a meeting next week.
Next week is Veteran Week, which we are supporting and promoting.
Meeting times: member try to block out Monday and Tuesday from 5-7!
Vice-President Flordalia Rodriguez-Garcia / Will be accepting applications today.
Website will be delegated to other students.
Sexual assault in fraternities is increasing.

Director of SIC David Lin / Hosting student dialogue next week.
They are constructing a mobile printing station for us- you can print from your phone.
Ryan will be sending out a survey to the faculty and their students to get information.
Going to focus on dorms next semester because this semester was mainly on campus.
In regards to printing, Mercedez suggested alternatives to telling people to print on campus as it is easy to run into trouble with that. Maybe suggesting to the professors that they should print.
Joe suggests having another meeting with Dean Dang and explaining that not many people actually exceed their printing quota.
Asha suggests putting that into a survey- asking students whether or not they know where free printing is accessible.
Director of IRC Asha Binbek / Lunch and Learn did not reach the desired effect, because did not send out MassMail. The rest of the event went well, would have been perfect if more people came.
Suggesting ideas for ways to fund Friendsgiving.
Director of URC Sun Choi / Chris and Joe discussing where the money comes from for the metra discount.
Director of CRC Evelyn Rocha / Tailgate event, Mercedez has been in contact with the athletic department. They will have a beer garden for those who are of age. There will be giveaways. A lot of school spirit! Athletics might want USG to have a booth or something of that nature at the tailgate.
Chris will help with promo items.
Dean Smith wants a dance off at the tailgate!!

VIII. Resolution Proposals.

·  Resolution 2015-8F-401: Call of Action for Denunciation of Hate Crimes on Campus. Passed Unanimously.

·  Resolution 2015-9F-806: National Conference on Student Leadership. Passed. Rescinded. Motion to add another WHEREAS to add $1000 to cover extra expenses. Motion passed. Resolution passed again.

·  Resolution 2015-8F-301: USG publicly supports the Student ACCESS Bill. Passed Unanimously.

Dean Smith won a midlevel student affairs award.

Brian (public) wants to clarify how the students will be charged for Metra passes.

Mateo says that the bill will be launched publicly on November 11, and will send that information to CRC.

If you’re interested in planning the holiday party, let Asha know. Asha is moving the IRC meeting to Monday.

Mercedez is probably canceling the meeting on the 19th.

Joe is resigning from USG, because of internal struggles.

Asha nominates Benjamin Brown. General Assembly approves him of full membership.

XIV. Adjournment

There was a motion to adjourn. Speaker Bedolla adjourned the meeting at 7:08 PM
