Autobiography Report

Objective: To demonstrate your expertise of Microsoft Word by typing an Autobiography.

Content Standard:

Demonstrate an understanding of computer software packages that include word processing, spreadsheets, and computer-generated graphics to accomplish a variety of subject area tasks.

Use computer skills and demonstrate proper techniques to access, manipulate and produce reports,documents and presentations.

Assignment: In Microsoft Word, type a paper about you that is at least 2 pages long, and format it according to the instructions below.

REQUIREMENTS: You will be graded on the formatting and content of your

report.

Formatting requirements= 70% of grade

Content requirements= 30% of grade

1. The paper must be at least 2 pages long. (10 points)

2. You must format the report as follows

Use 1 inch margins all around (5 points)

Times New Roman font type (5 points)

Size 12 font (5 points)

Put the proper heading in the header of the document (5 points)

Double space the entire report (5 points)

Center align the title of the report as “My Autobiography” ( 5 point)

Indent the first line of each new paragraph 0.5 inches (5 point)

Insert page numbers in the footer, center aligned. ( 5 points)

Paper has all six paragraphs in the correct format. (no spaces between paragraphs) (5 points)

3. Include a picture or clipart of something relating to you in the center of the first page of the report inside one of your paragraphs. Adjust the size of the picture so that it is not too large, and change the text wrapping or layout of your picture to TIGHT. (10 points)

4. Insert a table following the third paragraph of your report (junior/senior high school experience section) which lists a schedule of your classes. Create a table with three columns and six rows (first row for the column headings, five rows for all your classes). Title the cells in the first row as follows: Period #, Class Name/Subject, Teacher’s name, then complete the table with your class

schedule. The table should be single-spaced and you must format the table as follows: (10 points)

Center the table on the page

Center align the text in the last two columns only.

Apply a bold style to the first row

Change the width of the first column to 1” and the width of the other two columns to 2”

Add any shading to the first row

5. The paper must be free of all grammar and spelling errors. Use the spell check on the Tools Menu, and read your paper several times to correct mistakes (5 points)

6. Your paper must clearly answer and explain all the questions from the handout. Each section should be one paragraph in your report, for a total of six paragraphs. (30 points)

Paragraph #1: Write an Introduction ( 5 pts)

Paragraph #2: Write a complete description of your Elementary School Experience (5 pts.)

Paragraph #3: Write a complete description about attending Scappoose High School, thus far (5 pts.)

Paragraph #4: Write a complete description of things you do outside of school (5 pts.)

Paragraph #5: Write a complete description of what you’d like to do after high school (5 pts.)

Paragraph #6: Write a concluding paragraph (5 pts.)

7. Print and turn in the report to your individual class folder. (10 points)

GRADE:

120 points possible (look at requirements above for breakdown of points)

In order to earn an "A," student must complete all requirements. The content should represent an intensive self-reflection and retrospective. The report should be well thought out and be well organized. With this assignment you should demonstrate not only your technical ability with Microsoft Word, but how that technology can enhance your writing ability as well. Make sure you don't write too much on one aspect of your life (i-e. writing a page on your 5th grade year in elementary school while only including one sentence on your entire high school experience). PLEASE use paragraphs! Each paragraph should have a topic sentence and supporting sentences. Be concise with your writing, you will be graded on how well you put down your thoughts. Always read your paper to check for errors when you think you are done.
