Many fire prevention studies recommend a fire extinguisher at each exit & one at least on every level of your home. Escape ladder on an upper level of your home Fire retardant clothing worn at night Never leave food cooking unsupervised in your home or outside your home Never leave a candle unattended Keep all fire hazards in locked cabinets & away from child’s reach or play Never be near an open flame or hot surface with paper products or loose clothing that may catch on fire. Some home owners consider installing sprinkler systems in areas of their home Never burn on your property unless you know your local law on burning & there is not a burn band, there is no wind, the ground is wet or saturated outside ofyour burn area, you do not have any overhang where burning, have water hose on & available or water ready if needed. Have electrical equipment checked for any poor conditioning parts or wires that looked damaged. Do not overload electrical outlets with adapters and extension cords. Do not use electrical devices or appliances near water. Have your breaker box inspected for safety & older homes inspected by a professional.
