CBEAM STATEMENT OF POLICY

The role and mission of the of Business, Economics, Accountancy and as an educational service unit of De La Salle Lipa is primarily to produce Christ-centered, Responsible and Professionally Competent business graduates. This shall be realized by providing EXCELLENT and RESPONSIVE undergraduate and graduate business education under the precepts of driving social innovation in quality education, sustainable futures, inclusion & justice, and stakeholder engagement in the system of Higher Education in the and South-East Asia.

Educational Program Foundation Framework

The College of Business, Economics, Accountancy and Management shall;

(a) Act primarily as an educational service unit of De La Salle Lipa in the system of higher education; (b) Operate with efficiency and cost-effectiveness in the cooperative delivery of educational services with DLSL as primary institution; (c) Provide educational services through leadership, research and development in higher education;

(d) Act in a cooperative and supportive role with the Commission of Higher Education (CHED) in the development and implementation of long-range plans, strategies, and goals for the enhancement of educational and employment opportunities of students;

Core educational services in CBEAM shall be;

(a) Provided to qualified students through equitable and adequate educational opportunities; (b) Provided by improving teaching and student learning by focusing on efforts to continuously enhance academic program and curriculum, meet institutional requirements, and achieving CHED goals in the system of tertiary education; (c) Designed in a way that the effectiveness and efficiency of the service can be evaluated; (d) Monitored and improved to exceed minimum accreditation standards set by the CHED and other Accrediting Agencies to guarantee an acceptable level of quality in educational programs and services.

Academic

The College strives to realize the mission, core values, goals and objectives of the Institution through the formation of responsible business professionals in their chosen careers by offering excellent business education programs as an aid in the further development of the working population through the provision of the 21st century skills and competencies.

Research and Extension

The College also imposes upon itself to play an active role in increasing organizational intelligence and knowledge capital specially for the institution through research engagement and dissemination and provide opportunities to participate in community involvement activities to develop students in becoming professionals who are sensitive to the needs of others specially the poor.

CBEAM Strategic Direction for Quality Education

The College of Business, Economics, Accountancy and Management provides undergraduate and graduate business students with comprehensive business programs and strong foundation to succeed in today's fast-paced, technologically driven and environmentally challenged business environment. This shall be realized by integrating social innovation in quality education in the design of educational programs.

Driven by the Core Directions set by the Institution, the college sets its strategic purpose and objectives as follows:

Innovative Business Programs To offer innovative programs that will train students to become leaders to build and lead organizations that are innovative, resilient and capable of creating sustainable wealth (economic value without compromise to people, environment and resources) by driving social innovation.

Education for Sustainable Development (Core of Executive Education) To offer programs that will focus on making students learn and practice sustainability to help develop business models that will create transgenerational value for people (owners, customers and society) by managing business’ impact to the environment.

Responsible and Responsive Leaders To develop socially responsible leaders who are responsive to social and environmental issues to develop solutions to real world problems by driving social innovations and creation of sustainable wealth.

Research and Innovation for Sustainable Development To tap students’ cognitive talents and digital intelligence by providing opportunities for them to venture into knowledge creation through research and innovation that will help develop practices to create sustainable wealth.

Educational Service Delivery Platform – DEViCE

To provide quality education, the college transforms traditional physical classroom into a virtual classroom and shall be referred to as DEViCE – Digital Education in a Virtual Classroom Environment.

DEViCE will be working on the principles of BELS (Blended e-Learning System) which refers to an instructional system that combines multiple learning delivery methods, including most often face-to-face class- room with asynchronous and/or synchronous online learning maximizing the best advantages of face-to-face and online education.

DEViCE will tap technologies that support e-Learning or the delivery of information for education and training. Its functionality is delivered using the world wide web or internet with the use of a learning management system (LMS) which is a software application or web-based technology used to plan, implement, and assess a specific learning process. A learning management system (LMS) is an information technology (IT) used by instructors to easily build and maintain course websites which includes posting course content, updating events, and managing interactive communication with students via messages and on-line forums.

VIRTUAL CLASSROOM EVENT

Learning programs implementation shall be facilitated through Face-to-Face learning instructions with the use of LMS and CIT. The platform is inclusive of remote audiences and ability to playback a recorded live or prepared learning event for continuous learning. This is a shift from the traditional classroom events in a physical classroom which is a classic example of a single delivery mode of teaching that limits the access to only those who can participate at a fixed time and location

DEViCE (2 credit hours)

Learning interactions between teacher and students with the use of Communication and Information Technology via Learning Management System CANVAS plus other media technologies available.

Open Learning Day (1 credit hour)

Learning derived from exposure to the situation or environment interactions between and among learners as they communally explore and interpret learning resource. This is an approach to learning which requires learners to experience the supportive and collaborative presence of peers, mentors, and experts to be fully effective.

Comprised of the Dean, Program Chairs, Community Involvement Officer, Research Coordinator, Ethics Coordinator and TSFSA Representative. Convened for decisions regarding faculty development and concerns. Meets once a month.

CBEAM Extended Council

Comprised of the Dean, Program Chairs, Student Government Executive Council for CBEAM and Heads of Professional Organizations under CBEAM. Convened for decisions regarding student concerns for curricular and non-curricular activities. Meets once a month.
