Virtuoso V12 Upgrade

Directx End User Runtime (Windows 7 Only)

All PC’s now come with Directx as standard, however, there are some components that are not included in the installation and need to be added manually. Specifically, Soloist and Virtuoso require the Xaudio2 component.

You can Download the DirectX End User update from : http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=2DA43D38-DB71- 4C1B-BC6A-9B6652CD92A3

Note : The DirectX end-user installation includes the D3DX, HLSL Compiler, XInput, XAudio, and Managed DirectX 1.1 components.

Soloist V11.2.0 and higher require this end user runtime to be installed and V11.3.1 checks for this upon startup. If not found you will get a message “Xaudio2 Does not appear to be installed”.

Before the software itself can be installed there are a few items that need to be added to the Windows :

Load Codec Package if not already installed (for all PC’s)

VistaCodecs_v564.exe (For Windows XP) K-Lite_Codec_Pack_902_Mega.exe (For Windows 7) Configure per instructions on pages 2-8 of Codec V2.1

This will load a number of codec packages to the operating system. Soloist and Virtuoso use this to provide MP3 encoding and decoding (LAME) as well as support for extra file formats such as flash. It does not need to be configured and the shortcut in the start menu can be deleted.

Virtuoso System Configuration

Default Settings for “Soundcard/Source Control” Tab The below settings are shown for the SHS100 and SHS83 USB headset using the 6206 soundcard. Consult with Bratton Corporation if you are using another soundcard.

How the SHS100 USB headset will look for an XP installation : From V12 forward Virtuoso does not require compatibility mode. In Windows 7 audio terminology has changed. We now have Rendering instead of Playback and Capture replaces Record Input etc. Note the new room speaker option for Windows 7 only.

How the SHS100 and SHS83 USB headset will look for a Windows 7 installation : Voice Over IP Communications

For Windows XP you can only use the legacy LPEC VoIP Audio Communications

For Windows 7, Virtuoso V12 and later can be configured to use the new SANSTalk Audio VoIP router. SANSTalk is recommended :

Thumbnails

Virtuoso has an optional thumbnail button has been added to the Virtuoso GUI. When clicked it will open up a window with thumbnails of all the student’s screens on it.

Virtuoso needs to have a shared folder location so that the Soloist Student PC’s can write thumbnail jpeg’s. Thumbnail settings are done in the Virtuoso System Configuration :
