MILF MEMBER, DRUG GROUP MEMBER ARRESTED IN SEPARATE DRUG OPERATIONS IN REGION 9

A member of Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), and a local drug group member were arrested during separate buy-bust operations in Region 9 on August 26 and 27, 2019.

Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Director General Aaron N. Aquino identified the suspects as Carnain Hamid y Samson, alias Carlo, MILF member, and

Sarampatah Amin y Ibno, alias Patah, member of Omega Drug Group.

At around 5:30 PM on August 26, 2019, joint elements of PDEA Regional Office

IX (PDEA RO IX) under the supervision of Director Jacquelyn L. de Guzman, and local police conducted a buy-bust operation in Purok 4, Buyogan West, Kumalarang,

Zamboanga del Sur that resulted in the arrest of Hamid, and seizure of three pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu, weighing more or less 2.5 grams, with an estimated value of Php13,940.00, one Colt caliber .45 pistol with a magazine containing six pieces of live ammunition, and the buy-bust money.

Another buy-bust operation was conducted at around 12:00 noon at the 2nd floor of Isabela City Wet Market, Isabela City, Basilan that led to the arrest of Amin, who yielded three pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu, weighing more or less seven grams with an estimated value of Php47,600.00, one transparent plastic sachet containing eight pieces of folded aluminum foils, and the buy-bust money.

The arrested suspects will be charged for violation of Section 5 (Sale of

Dangerous Drugs), Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic

Act 9165, or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. An additional case for violation of Republic Act 10591, or Illegal Possession of Firearms and Ammunition, will be filed against Hamid.
