Daytime Emmy Awards Daytime Emmy Awards 39th Annual DAYTIME Entertainment EMMY® AWARDS Welcome! On behalf of our Board and the 12,000 members of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS), I welcome you to the 39th annual telecast of the Daytime Entertainment Emmy® Awards. I also would like to welcome our partners in this year’s telecast, The HLN Television Network and Locomotive, Inc. For the first time in our history, we are bringing the Daytime Emmy® Awards to you live from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, and we have put together an exciting evening to celebrate and honor the best of Daytime Television! We are also excited to be presenting the esteemed Daytime Emmy® Awards, once again, to our many viewers and fans across the world as a live broadcast. We are proud to continue honoring Daytime Television, the dramas, the talk shows, morning shows, entertainment, culinary, courtroom, game show, children’s and educational programming on national television, a grand tradition for the past 39 years. In addition to our esteemed nominees, tonight we honor Bill Geddie, an icon in the television industry. When he created “The View” fourteen years ago, Bill introduced a new and innovative daytime television talk show format. With his many contributions to Daytime television over a long career, we at the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences are proud to have Bill receive our 2012 Daytime Lifetime Achievement Award. This evening’s festivities would not be possible without the help of all our partners and sponsors, and we thank them for their commitment to Daytime Television and NATAS. In addition, we want to thank our dedicated staff, our National Trustees, and Awards Committee members for all of their tireless work in making tonight’s show a success. While thanking our colleagues at the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for helping make the 39th Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy® Awards a memorable event, we especially would like to thank you, the Daytime Community, for your enthusiasm, your talent and your dedication to excellence which we honor this evening. We look forward to seeing you again next year for our 40th Daytime Emmy telecast gala.
