Mons. George William Coleman, in conformità al can. 401 § 1 del Codice di Diritto Canonico. Il Papa ha nominato Vescovo di Fall River (U.S.A.) S.E. Mons. Edgar M. da Cunha, S.D.V., finora Vescovo titolare di Ucres ed Ausiliare dell’arcidiocesi di Newark (U.S.A.). S.E. Mons. Edgar M. da Cunha, S.D.V. S.E. Mons. Edgar M. da Cunha, S.D.V., è nato il 21 agosto 1953 a Riachão do Jacuípe Bahia, appartenente allora all’arcidiocesi di Feira de Santana (Brasile) ed oggi alla diocesi di Serrinha. Dopo aver frequentato le scuole elementari e secondarie in Brasile, è entrato nella famiglia religiosa dei Padri Vocazionisti, e ha compiuto gli studi filosofici presso l’Università Cattolica di Salvador. Inviato negli Stati Uniti per la formazione teologica presso il Seminario dell’Immaculate Conception dell’arcidiocesi di Newark (New Jersey), vi ha conseguito il Masters of Divinity. 2 Ha pronunciato i voti temporanei l’11 febbraio 1975 a Sâo Salvador da Bahia in Brasile, ed i voti perpetui l’11 febbraio 1979 a Newark. È stato ordinato sacerdote il 27 marzo 1982 nella Parrocchia di Saint Michael the Archangel a Newark. Dopo la sua ordinazione sacerdotale, ha svolto i seguenti incarichi: Direttore per le vocazioni della Società Divine Vocazioni (1982-1987), Vice-Parroco della Saint Nicholas Parish a Palisades Park (1983-1986), Amministratore parrocchiale e poi Parroco della Saint Nicholas Parish a Palisades Park (1986-1994); Maestro dei Novizi e Direttore della Casa di Formazione per la Società Divine Vocazioni a Florham Park (1994-2000); Segretario del Consiglio dei Delegati della Società Divine Vocazioni (1998-2000); Parroco della Saint Michael the Archangel Parish a Newark e Superiore della comunità religiosa e Delegato per gli Stati Uniti del Superiore Generale della Società Divine Vocazioni (2000-2003). Nominato Vescovo titolare di Ucres ed Ausiliare di Newark il 27 giugno 2003, è stato consacrato il 3 settembre successivo. Come Ausiliare di Newark è stato Vescovo Regionale per Essex County (2003-2005) e Vicario per l’Evangelizzazione (2005-2013). Dal 2013 è Vicario Generale di tale arcidiocesi. In seno alla Conferenza Episcopale è Membro del Subcommittee on Pastoral Care of Migrants, Refugees and Travelers e del Subcommittee on the Church in Latin America. Oltre al portoghese, che è la sua lingua materna, parla correntemente l’inglese e lo spagnolo, e conosce l’italiano. François Maupu, in conformità al can. 401 § 1 del Codice di Diritto Canonico. Il Papa ha nominato Vescovo di Verdun (Francia) il Rev.do Mons. Jean-Paul Gusching, finora Vicario generale della diocesi di Amiens. Rev.do Mons. Jean-Paul Gusching Il Rev.do Mons. Jean-Paul Gusching è nato il 25 giugno 1955 a Neuville Coppegueule, nella diocesi di Amiens. Ha conseguito un baccalaureato civile e un diploma contabile. Entrato in Seminario nel 1976, ha compiuto la formazione filosofica presso il Seminario di Saint-Sulpice di Issy-les-Moulineaux, e quella teologica presso il Seminario di Reims, conclusa con il Baccalaureato in Teologia. Dopo l’ordinazione, ha seguito i corsi dell’Institut Supérieur de Pastorale Catéchétique dell’Institut Catholique di Paris (1983-1984), e corsi di Teologia presso lo stesso Istituto (1984-1985). Èstato ordinato sacerdote il 19 giugno 1983, per la diocesi di Amiens. Dopo l’ordinazione sacerdotale ha ricoperto gli incarichi seguenti: Vicario, e poi Parroco nella parrocchia di Corbie (1983-1990); Vicario nella parrocchia della Cattedrale, membro dell’équipe presbiterale del centro città di Amiens (1990-1999); Parroco in solidum nella parrocchia del centro città di Amiens (1999-2000); Parroco della parrocchia Saint-Jean-Baptiste di Peronne, Moderatore delle parrocchie Saint-Joseph di Moilains-Combles e della parrocchia Notre-Dame di Moyenpont, Roisel (2000-2004). Dal 2004 è Vicario generale della diocesi, e dal 2013 è anche Parroco di Amiens-centro. Dal novembre 2013 all’aprile 2014, è stato Amministratore diocesano di Amiens. [01108-01.01] 3 Nomina dell’Arcivescovo di Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) Il Santo Padre ha nominato Arcivescovo di Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) il Rev.do Julian Leow Beng Kim, del clero di Kuala Lumpur, attualmente Decano degli Studi e Formatore nel Seminario Maggiore di Penang. Rev.do Julian Leow Beng Kim Il Rev.do Julian Leow Beng Kim è nato il 3 gennaio 1964 a Seremban, arcidiocesi di Kuala Lumpur. Dopo gli studi primari e secondari, prima di entrare in Seminario, ha studiato alla New South Wales University di Sydney, conseguendo un baccalaureato in Ragioneria Civile. Ha lavorato a Sydney e successivamente a Kuala Lumpur, Johor e Singapore, a capo di varie costruzioni. Ha, poi, completato gli studi filosofici e teologici nel Seminario maggiore di Penang. Èstato ordinato sacerdote il 20 aprile 2002 per l’arcidiocesi di Kuala Lumpur. Successivamente ha svolto i seguenti ministeri: 2002-2004: Vicario parrocchiale della parrocchia Visitation a Seremban; 2004-2007: Parroco di Holy Family a Kajang; 2007-2010: Studi per la Licenza in Storia Ecclesiastica presso l’Università Gregoriana a Roma; dal 2010: Decano degli Studi e Formatore al Seminario maggiore di Penang. John Bonaventure Kwofie, C.S.Sp., già Superiore Provinciale dei Padri Spiritani per il West Africa. Rev.do P. John Bonaventure Kwofie, C.S.Sp. Il Rev.do P. John Bonaventure Kwofie, C.S.Sp., è nato il 26 aprile 1958 a Powa, nella diocesi di Sekondi- Takoradi. Ha studiato la Filosofia presso i PP. Spiritani a Isienu-Nsukka, in Nigeria (1981-1983). Dal 1983 al 1984 ha completato il suo anno pastorale presso la parrocchia di Holy Rosary a Suema, nell’arcidiocesi di Kumasi in Ghana. Negli anni 1984-1988 ha studiato la Teologia presso il St. Paul’s Seminary a Gbanga in Liberia, ottenendo il Baccellierato. Ha emesso i voti religiosi il 2 agosto 1987 ed è stato ordinato sacerdote il 23 luglio 1988 a Kumasi. Rev.do Héctor David García Osorio Il Rev.do Héctor David García Osorio è nato a Concepción de María, diocesi di Choluteca, il 23 settembre 1966. Ha compiuto gli studi filosofici e teologici presso il Seminario maggiore Nuestra Señora de Suyapa a Tegucigalpa. Ha conseguito la Licenza in Teologia Spirituale presso la Pontificia Università Gregoriana di Roma. Ha ricevuto l’ordinazione sacerdotale l’8 novembre 1997, incardinandosi nella diocesi di Choluteca. The Mission Authorities of Christian Mission Schools in Malaysia are the owners of the Christian mission schools in the country. They are set out in Schedule I (hereinafter referred to as "the Mission Authorities"). The list of participating Mission schools that are covered in this Memorandum are as set out in Schedule 2 hereto. 2. The mission schools were set up by the Mission Authorities in the pre-Merdeka period to meet the needs of the community in the pre-independence period by providing educational opportunities to the local children, especially to girls, who would otherwise not have had opportunity to receive an education. These schools were owned and initially administered by the respective Mission Authorities who established the schools with English as the medium of instruction in a majority of the schools and a few with Chinese/Tamil as the medium of instruction. 3. Mission schools are characterised by their special ethos that promote unity, love, person-centred education and compassion for the weak which form the underlying philosophy of mission schools with regard to education. They have played a major role in nation building. 4. Following the Report of the Royal Commission of the Teaching Services 1971 (the Aziz Report), the Mission Authorities accepted the invitation of the Government for the mission schools to be absorbed into the National Education System and for them to be run as government-assisted schools.

Many, including Muslim lawmakers from both the government and opposition camps, have voiced strong concerns over the growing trend of majority Muslim Malaysians imposing their religious beliefs onto citizens belonging to ethnic minorities.     PRESS RELEASE For immediate Release FAITH LEADERS IN MALAYSIA COMMIT TO FIGHTING HUMAN TRAFFICKING KUALA LUMPUR, 30 July, 2017: Ten leaders from different religions in Malaysia signed an Inter-Faith Joint Declaration against Human Trafficking, in an event hosted by the Catholic Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur. They did so in solidarity with the millions of women, children and men across the world who are trafficked and enslaved. The faith leaders jointly declared that “every girl, boy, woman and man is a free person, and all exist for the good of all in equality and fraternity. That people are trafficked and exploited physically, economically, sexually and psychologically for the profit, benefit and pleasure of others goes against the fundamental conviction that all people are equal and have the same freedom and dignity”. The signatories to the declaration were Venerable Sing Kan (Malaysian Buddhist Association); Mr Vijaya Samarawickrama (Sasana Abhiwardhi Wardhana Society); Rev. Dr Eu Hong Seng (National Evangelical Christian Fellowship); Mr C.M. Kopalan (Malaysia Hindu Sangam); Mr Vijaya Segaran Vadivelloo (The Spiritual Assembly of the Baha'is of Malaysia); Ms Loh Pai Ling (Buddhist Missionary Society Malaysia); Rev. Dr Hermen Shastri (Council of Churches of Malaysia); Archbishop Julian Leow Beng Kim (Catholic Bishops Conference of Malaysia); Mr Jagjit Singh (Malaysian Gurdwara Council) and Daozhang Tan Hoe Chieow (Federation of Taoist Association Malaysia).
