The Social Programme

The Social Programme is a fun way to make friends within your halls and explore the city so that London feels like home from the moment you arrive.

Each week we run two or three events and activities in every hall. The events are organised by your fellow students who live with you. We do everything from movie & popcorn nights to sewing and knitting clubs. We even go away on weekend trips around the UK where we visit galleries and museums and experience local culture. We also organise language exchanges, cooking competitions and discounted nights out to some of London’s best nightclubs.

Each hall has different events and activities, often related to your studies, so you get the most out of your time at UAL. There are regular cross-hall events and parties giving you more chances to meet your peers from around the whole University. We subsidise the programme to try to keep your costs down.

The Social Programme is open to everyone who lives in halls and wants to have the best experience of University life. We are always open to organising things that you want to do, and if you’re really keen on taking part you can even become a Social Rep yourself!

To see what happened last year, check out the pictures on our Facebook pages for your hall and get involved now to meet the people you’ll be living with in September.

We look forward to seeing you at the welcome party in the next academic year!

All the best,

Josh Solomon Coordinator of The Social Programme

Hello! Ana here, the designer of this brochure. UAL have invited me to introduce myself and tell you a little about me, so here goes...

I came to London from my hometown Porto, Portugal in 2009 to study Graphic Design and Illustration at Central Saint Martins. London is such a brilliant place to live and I love the opportunities and positive You can find my work at influence that it offers me in my development and growth as a creative anartworld.tumblr.com professional.

As a CSM student I got exposed to millions of different influences, You can contact me at concepts, possibilities and styles. While studying, I got several work experience placements as I always thought this would be an essential [email protected] step in learning how things would work in real life, versus how things worked in college and this will help you manage your college years better. Finding ways of exhibiting your work to people inside and outside college is also vital, so I would recommend taking as many opportunities as you can to do so- by participating in competitions, exhibitions, joining online platforms and selling your work at pop up shops.

I love Illustration, Animation and everything related to Graphic Design. I strive to be versatile but also consistent and pick up as much advice and knowledge from other professionals as possible. My dream is to have my own studio and be able to create a platform and business related to my passion that would also influence other people in a positive way.

The opportunity to work for UAL on this brochure came after participating on a brief contest. Throughout the making of this catalogue, I had a lot of room to experiement with the main idea of making this brochure something that was very clear but also visually stimulating to future students. All my illustrators and layout were created using Adobe Illustrator and InDesign.
