Getting started with Kno

The Kno™ app is an interactive PDF e-Reader designed for education. It can enhance the learning experience by increasing student engagement and improving study habits. Students can make more efficient use of study time using highlighting, note taking and journal features. These tools assist educators in implementing study methodologies to help improve student comprehension and retention.

Accessing the application

1. Press the Kno™ app icon to access the Course Manager. 2. To start reviewing book content, select sample material, add a PDF, or visit the Kno bookstore.

Integration of Kno™ for Schools with Kno™ app1

When the Kno™ app is used with Kno™ for Schools, additional capabilities come to life. Educators and students can access enhanced eTextbooks that allow students and teachers to share notes, search instantly, engage with multi- media links, and even track study behavior. eTextbooks are saved and synced to the cloud, enabling anytime, anywhere access across library computers, school-issued and student-owned devices.

Kno™ Bookstore

Users can also purchase additional materials through Kno’s U.S.-based bookstore of over 250,000 interactive digital educational titles, available on web browsers, Android*, Windows* 7, 8, and 8.1, and iOS*. These enhanced eTextbooks enable note sharing, instant search, the addition of engaging multi-media links, and even track study behavior.

Book purchases and rentals require a U.S. credit card, and are tied to the registered email address for access across devices.

The Course Manager

The Course Manager is the home page of the Kno™ app. It is where you can organize your terms, your courses and shop for books.

Book deployments, purchases, and rentals are tied to the registered email address, allowing users to read books

across all Kno™ app platforms. Your books and notes are synced and restored across all devices1.

This section describes the tools included to facilitate users to navigate through a PDF, and add elements to help study and remember what is important, such as sticky notes, bookmarks and highlights, among others.

In order to use this feature, the publisher and subscriber must both own the same eTextbook.

Kno Me is a personal study dashboard that helps users track engagement with each Kno eTextbook they use. Users can check in frequently to see near real-time stats on study behavior, interaction levels, time management and personal progress.

1. Press Menu. 2. Press Kno Me. 3. Select a book. 4. To see an overview of your usage and interaction with that book select a tab: a. Study time. b. Time in Chapter. c. Pages Annotated. d. Flashcards. 5. Press Explain Graph to get detailed information.

Set a study goal

1. Select a tab: a. Study time. b. Time in Chapter. c. Pages Annotated. d. Flashcards. 2. Press Set Goal. 3. Drag the slider to set a value. 4. Press Done.
