FOR IMMEDIATELY RELEASE Michael Marriott Communications Manager [email protected] Prestigious Nursing Academy to Induct 168 Nurse Leaders The American Academy of Nursing has selected 168 nurse leaders to join fellowship because of their leadership in education, management, and policy and work to improve the health of the nation. WASHINGTON, DC (June 23, 2014)—The American Academy of Nursing has selected 168 nurse leaders for induction as fellows during the Academy’s 2014 Transforming Health, Driving Policy Conference on October 18, 2014, in Washington, DC. The Academy is comprised of more than 2,200 nurse leaders in education, management, practice, policy, and research. The Academy fellows include hospital and government administrators, college deans, and renowned scientific researchers. The Academy fellows, with the addition of this newest class, represent all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and 24 countries. See the full roster at www.AANnet.org/2014-class-announced. "The American Academy of Nursing welcomes this stellar cohort of new fellows,” declared Academy president Diana Mason, PhD, RN, FAAN. “As clinicians, researchers, educators, executives, and leaders in all sectors of our society, they are joining the nation's thought leaders in nursing and health care." Selection criteria include evidence of significant contributions to nursing and health care and sponsorship by two current Academy fellows. Applicants are reviewed by a panel comprised of elected and appointed fellows, and selection is based, in part, on the extent the nominee’s nursing career has influenced health policies and the health and wellbeing of all. New fellows will be eligible to use the credentials FAAN (fellow of the American Academy of Nursing) after their induction in October. For more information about the Academy and the 2014 policy conference, visit http://www.AANnet.org. # # # About the American Academy of Nursing The American Academy of Nursing (www.AANnet.org) serves the public and the nursing profession by advancing health policy and practice through the generation, synthesis, and dissemination of nursing knowledge.
