Jackie Bailey’s son, Emerson, plays for the Aurora Novice A Tigers and he was looking for a way to give back to the community in a way that also supports the game loved by so many. They decided to have a garage sale benefiting the Canadian Tire Jumpstart Program to give a local kid the chance to play hockey this fall. “After many calls to the Town, I obtained all the necessary letters in support of our efforts and was guaranteed the monies collected will definitely stay right here in Aurora,” says Jackie. “I am very proud and humbled by the selflessness of my seven-year-old and to those on the team.” Saturday’s garage sale will be held at 291 Murray Drive.

AURORA SOCCER CLUB WELCOMES YOU AND THE WORLD The Aurora Soccer Club (Adult) invites the community to enjoy a free afternoon of live soccer matches on Saturday. The Nokiida Trail boardwalk over the MacKenzie Marsh has signs at either end requesting that cyclists dismount. According to Parks and Rec workers, this is both to protect pedestrians and reduce disturbances to wildlife. The signs are often ignored. Today, I was walking my bike and two women and their children came biking down the boardwalk, with people on it. What a lesson in manners those children are getting! This summer show some respect for others and wildlife: walk your bike on the boardwalk. Rick Doust Aurora
