Birds of Guam National More Birds Checklist for Wildlife Refuge Birds Guam National Wildlife Refuge (GNWR), Black francolin commonly located at the Northern tip of the island, is found within a home to many endangered and threat- the ened species that make Guam truly Guam unique. The refuge is designated as a National critical habitat for the well-known birds Philippine Wildlife such as Guam Micronesian kingfisher and collared dove Refuge Mariana crow, as well as, a mammal, the Mariana fruit bat.
Several species of birds are routinely ob- served within the refuge, although most Brown booby of the forest bird population has been decimated by brown tree snake predation and pesticide use up until the 1970’s.
