Muscular Dystrophy affects more than 50,000 Canadians. Colby Audette is a 17-year-old with Duchene Muscular Dystrophy, which is incurable and will continue to progress. Colby’s Crusade helps raise funds for his future medical expenses as the disease robs him of his independence. He and his mother Gloria Audette were out on Nov. 2 with the Petawawa Fire Department, raising money for Muscular Dystro- phy Canada. Firefighters across the nation have been supporting this organization since 1954. Locally, firefighters ran boot drive, literally holding out their boots for donations in front of the Hyska’s Your -In dependent Grocer (YIG). There was no specific financial goal, but they took the opportunity to meet with the public and raise awareness of the disease.
