Women continue to strengthen the family and enrich our lives in business, government, volunteer activities, religious life, education, health, the military, sports, the arts, and many other areas. The Women’s History Month celebration is part of a larger global project that centers around International Women’s Day, on March 8th. A national holiday in some countries, International Women’s Day was Commissioner Prestage along with the first celebrated in 1908 in an effort to draw County Judge and other Commissioners, attention to the lack of voting rights and fair met with the 2016 Class of the Fort Bend labor conditions for women. SHERMAN: It was on Travis. We didn't have addresses then. We didn't have numbers, but it's Travis Street now. The Methodist church has a parking lot there now. POLLICOFF: What brought your family to the Fort Bend area, and when did they arrive? SHERMAN: I know my grandmother got here in 1914, from Louisiana. Her name was Olivia Murphy Davis from Palmetto, off of Monroe, Louisiana.
