Welcome to the 2021 Alpha Warrior Team Tough Challenge hosted at the Alpha Warrior Proving Grounds! Our goal is to provide a challenging experience that will encourage teamwork and accountability for your team as you each strive to become an Alpha Warrior.
We are grateful to our event sponsors and team underwriters for their support of this event.
This year’s top division winners will bring home cash awards for their school or booster club. We will also honor our military team captains and hope that spending time with those who protect us will add depth to your experience. Your military team captain will push you to exceed your expectations and encourage you if you struggle.
We also want you to think about how core values can help you achieve success in life. Core values serve as your compass both as an individual and as part of a larger team. They will increase your chance for success in life, school or the workplace. What are some core values that might fit with your journey in life?
Check out the values of San Antonio Sports and the U.S. Army as you build your own set of personal core values. Having a few key values will serve as your lighthouse as you navigate life.
Good luck on your quest to become an Alpha Warrior!

THE COURSE COURSE MAP
1 Monster Barrels LOWER BODY • CORE • CARDIO • TEAMWORK Jump early and keep moving! Hands and feet are both required. Focus on the position of your hips, and keep them high, so you can roll over the top.
2 Sidewinder UPPER BODY • LOWER BODY • CORE The Key: keep moving. Climbing high on the net will provide less swing in the net, though going low may save you time. Make sure to have a secure grip and good footing as you traverse; maintain three points of contact with the net as you move, and go!
3 Sea of Ropes UPPER BODY • LOWER BODY • CORE • TEAMWORK Jump early and keep moving! Hands and feet are both required. Focus on the position of your hips, and keep them high, so you can roll over the top.
4 Gut Buster CORE • CARDIO Always keep pressure on the bars by remaining in three points of contact. This means that you are only moving one limb at a time.
5 Sky Walk LOWER BODY • CARDIO • TEAMWORK Jump early and keep moving! Hands and feet are both required. Focus on the position of your hips, and keep them high, so you can roll over the top.
Pit Fall 6 UPPER BODY • GRIP • FEAR The Key: backswing. Grab the rope, and jump backwards as high as you can. Tuck your knees to your chest, and hang on tight! Use the momentum to swing to the cargo net for a smooth transfer. To reduce the amount of time spent on the cargo net, grab as high as you can on your initial swing.

Opening Ceremonies July 23rd THE COURSE COURSE MAP
7 Chopper Crawl CORE • CARDIO • BALANCE Slow is smooth; smooth is fast. Maintain three points of contact, only moving one limb at a time with purpose.
Radial Rings 8 UPPER BODY • GRIP Have fun, but be aware that it is easy to get lost and burnt out here. Develop momentum with a ring in each hand until you swing through and forward on your “lead” ring. Maintaining control of two rings will ensure that you have a way to generate a backswing and momentum to move forward.
9 Slack City LOWER BODY • CORE • CARDIO • BALANCE Stay low and slow. Keep your eyes at the end of the slack line and focus, focus, focus.
10 Spider Wall UPPER BODY • LOWER BODY • CORE • CARDIO The Key: clean shoes and warmed-up legs. Keep your body in an upright position, and maintain pressure on the walls with your toes and hands. Move your feet together, then move your hands together. Move quickly! Hazardous when hesitating.

BATTLEGROUND EVENTS
After teams complete the challenging obstacle course, their toughness will be pushed to the limit as they compete in four fitness challenges to lower their overall time. Each challenge will be allotted 10 minutes.
ALCATRAZ FORMAT: Alcatraz has it all. Tight spaces, heights, swinging monkey bars and a cargo net descent. Like the other Battleground Fitness Challenges, Alcatraz will give your team bonus time. You will have 10 minutes to see how many teammates can make it to the finish. SCORING: Each team member finishing within the time limit = (-1 min)
PULL-UP CHALLENGE FORMAT: How many pull ups can your team do? Each teammate will have the opportunity to test themself and complete as many pull-ups as they can in 5 minutes. Each student will be given one opportunity to complete their reps. Each team’s total number of reps will be added together to reduce their overall time. Team’s score will be based off their standings among other division teams that are then ranked by the total number of pull-ups they complete in 5 minutes. SCORING: 1st place = (-5 min) 2nd place = (-4 min) 3rd place = (-3 min) 4th place = (-2 min) 5th place & lower = (-1 min)
360° MOUNTAIN CLIMB CHALLENGE FORMAT: Teams will have 10 minutes to complete as many mountain climbs as possible. One student at a time will complete the 30 ft. steep mountain climb then quickly chop their feet down the stairs tagging their next teammate to do the same. Team’s score will be based off the total number of complete climbs they do in 10 minutes. Teams who do not properly complete a climb with correct form will not have that climb count towards their team’s total. Team’s score will be based off their standings among other division teams that are then ranked by the total number of mountain climbs they complete in the 5 minutes. SCORING: 1st place = (-5 min) 2nd place = (-4 min) 3rd place = (-3 min) 4th place = (-2 min) 5th place & lower = (-1 min)
U.S. ARMY PUSH-UP CHALLENGE FORMAT: At this last challenge, each student on a team will attempt to complete as many push-ups as they can in 10 minutes. Students will complete their reps one at a time and the next student will be ready to start immediately after the prior student finishes their maximum push-ups. Teams total number of push-ups will be added together to subtract from their overall time. Team’s score will be based off their standings among other division teams that are then ranked by the total number of push-ups they complete in the 5 minutes. SCORING: 1st place = (-5 min) 2nd place = (-4 min) 3rd place = (-3 min) 4th place = (-2 min) 5th place & lower = (-1 min)
