Now, F ROM R I V ERS TO we reinvented the nature of the ocean cruise: custom-crafting itineraries for more time in port, so you can really explore — whether experiencing excursions that bring history and culture to life or discovering off-the-beaten-path adventures that enrich your journey. OCEANS On Viking Star, expand your horizons with like-minded explorers on a ship that is genuinely human in scale. She is designed with a comfortable intimacy to encourage lifelong friendships and an ease of discovery that larger ships simply cannot offer. So by journey’s end, you feel more connected — to your fellow travelers and your destinations. But of course, value for your money is also of great importance. As a company, we believe that a cruise should offer more than just transportation; that, like our river cruises, your fare should include all you need — from shore excursions to beverages, meals and Wi-Fi — not unpleasant surprises. That your ship should be built to enhance your destination, not to be the destination. And should you choose to explore more, you still have options to customize your experience, from our onboard Viking Concierge to optional excursions and privileged access behind the scenes. This is our vision; this is Viking cruising. Reinventing Cruising Join us as we usher in a new era of ocean cruising by taking the innovative thinking behind our award-winning river cruises and bringing it to the epic setting of the sea. This cruise experience is the one our river passengers inspired us to create. We have asked our guests, listened, observed — and now crafted the ultimate kind of cruise: one focused on destinations. And in 2015, we will take destination cruising from the rivers to the ocean with the maiden season of the beautiful Viking Star. Here you'll find epic mountain ranges, ancient cities, sweeping deserts – and warm hospitality. Morocco is quickly becoming one of the world’s most sought-after tourist destinations. From Casablanca through Rabat and Tangier at the tip of the continent; from the infinite blue labyrinth streets of Chefchaouen, and down to Fez, and still further south to the ever-spreading dunes of Erg Chebbi in the Sahara Desert; over to Marrakech, and the laid-back coastal town of Essaouira, Morocco has an abundance of important natural and historical assets. Marrakech Known as the capital of Morocco under the reign of Youssef Ben Tachfine, this “Pearl of the South” known as Marrakesh, remains one of the top attractions of tourists . Fez in the north of Morocco is a crucial center of commerce and industry (textile mills, refineries, tanneries and soap), thus making crafts and textiles an important part of the city’s past and present economy. The city, whose old quarters are classified world heritage by UNESCO, is a religious and intellectual center as well as an architectural gem. Rabat is the capital of Morocco and is a symbol of continuity in Morocco. At the heart of the city, stands the Hassan Tower, the last vestige of an unfinished mosque. A system approach Viking Sky investigation and analysis - CAST - was employed with the aim to maximize learning from the Hustadvika-Norway ’ Learning Viking Sky s failure through a systematic approach and to contribute to failure reduction in the Marine accidents and Digital Twin cruise ship industry. Three main recommendations emerged from this study: an overview of the accident or failure precursors and resilience indicators; safety recommendations for other cruise ships; lessons and strategies of actions for the increased cruise operations in the Arctic and Antarctic areas. It was found that several accident or failure precursors, for example, a low level of lubricating oil, the failure of a turbocharger, an inoperative large diesel generator, lack of functionality for safety equipment due to bad weather, and others precursors contributed to failure and highly critical situation encountered by Viking Sky in Hustadvika.
