  • Snyder Petriashvili Open 2017 with Wins January FS Rankings In
From: Tim Foley [email protected] Subject: Snyder, Petriashvili Open 2017 with Wins, January FS Rankings in Turmoil Underneath Date: February 7, 2017 at 8:49 AM To: [email protected] Snyder, Petriashvili Open 2017 with Wins, January FS Rankings in Turmoil Underneath By William May // Photo: Gabor Martin CORSIER-SUR-VEVEY (January 31) – Rio 2016 champion Kyle SNYDER (USA) and bronze medalist Geno PETRIASHVILI (GEO) kicked off 2017 with victories at Grand Prix events, solidifying their claims to top positions in the United World Wrestling freestyle rankings for January. Snyder rolled to victory at the Yarygin Grand Prix, one year after finishing third in Krasnoyarsk (RUS), to head into the new year with his No.1 ranking at 97kg intact. Petriashvili, meanwhile, prevailed in Paris to support his claim to No.3 at 125kg. Yet, while only a handful of wrestlers in the top 10 of each category were in action in January, many of the medalists in Krasnoyarsk and Paris were unranked or positioned in the lower half of the rankings. This resulted in some churn in the second 10 as they look ahead to the continental championships this spring. World military champion Alan KHUGAEV (RUS) made the biggest leap in the rankings with a win at 125kg in Krasnoyarsk, going from unranked to No.8. Khugaev notched a 3-2 win in the final over Anzor BOLTUKAEV (RUS), who spent three months atop the 97kg rankings in 2016 before slumping to 11th in Rio de Janeiro. Also, at the Yarygin Grand Prix, Dauren KURUGLIEV (RUS) climbed one place to No.7, after defeating Mahammasjavad EBRAHIMIZIVLAEI (IRI), 4-3, in the final at 86kg.

Salas, also silver in Budapest-2011, was surprised by the speed of the European, a 2012 and 2013 Cadet World champion, who beat him by technical superiority (10-0), and the 3rd places in this category were conquered by Turkish Selim Yasar and Iranian Mohammadian. Athletics The French athlete Teddy Tamgho, current world champion in triple jump, is training in Havana with his coach, Cuban Iván Pedroso, looking at the World Championship next year in China. Teddy began training with Ivan here in Havana on September 2nd, in order to start preparing for the World Cup 2015, where he seeks to defend his title obtained in Moscow 2013, told Radio Havana Cuba news agency. It is the first time that Teddy has to train in Cuba and looks lively. He gets along very well with Ivan and trains almost every day for 2 training sessions, while alternating the beach with the track. Under Pedroso's eye, Tamgho, 25 years old, became last year the 3rd triple jumper who exceeds 18.00 meters and was crowned World Outdoors Championship in Moscow 2013 with 18.04 m. However, soon after he suffered a serious injury and because of his convalescence he brushed 3 doping controls, which led him to be suspended by the French Federation and lost the 2014 Season. The French sports star rose to fame in the World Indoor Championship in Doha 2010, setting a new world record with 17.90 meters, a record lately improved in other 2 subsequent occasions to finally fix it at 17.92 in 2011.

From: United World Wrestling Press [email protected] Subject: Sadulaev Tops Rival Snyder in 3rd Clash; Otoguro, Susaki Give Host Japan Golden Ending Date: August 7, 2021 at 4:20 PM To: [email protected] Sadulaev Tops Rival Snyder in 3rd Clash for Tokyo Olympics Gold By Ken Marantz CHIBA, Japan (August 7) -- Abdulrashid SADULAEV (ROC) came out on top in his latest clash with fellow Rio Olympic champion Kyle SNYDER (USA) at freestyle 97kg, winning "Snyderlaev III" 6-3 on Saturday night. In the highly anticipated battle at Makuhari Messe Hall A, reigning world champi0n Sadulaev scored twice on tilts in countering low singles by Snyder and held on to add a second Olympic gold to his four world titles. "Unbelievable, awesome," Sadulaev said. "I know this feeling because five years ago I won. It’s more difficult to defend than to win. So it’s a dream today." Sadulaev took a 2-0 lead in the second period after receiving an activity point and scoring on a stepout. In the second period, Snyder shot for a low single and Sadulaev showed how he earned his nickame "The Russian Tank" when he lifted the American off the mat. While Sadulaev wasn't able throw Snyder for points, he managed to tilt him over. A short time later, Snyder got in on the same single leg, and the result was exactly the same, giving the Russian a 4-0 lead. Snyder, a two-time former world champion, put himself back into the match with a hard-earned takedown with 50 seconds left, then added a stepout point with :28 on the clock.
