MTV New Media's Horror-Slasher Film, Savage County, featured his art as its official movie poster, depicting the three murderers in the film. Prior to the film, Vincent painted album art for heavy metal band Triptykon's 2010 debut release, Eparistera Daimones.Triptykon is founded by former Hellhammer / Celtic Frost singer and guitarist Tom Gabriel Fischer. His work has been featured on New York 1 News, Spike TV, as well as the television series, Miami Ink.     Vincent Castiglia: Existential Visionary Artist Castiglia's paintings are monochromatic tableaux examining life, death, and the human condition. While many surrealists cite fantasy or dreams as their inspiration, Castiglia’s canvases are connected to a life story which is highly allegorical. The archetypal figures in Castiglia’s work embody the finitude of individual human existence. The viewer is presented with the symbiosis of birth and death. The images themselves, as he sees them, form as crystallizations of his experiences, freed from the psyche; the viewer is not only allowed to see into the figure, but also through it, into a deeper psychological world. Vincent Castiglia is the 1st American artist to receive a solo exhibition invitation from Oscar Award-winning artist H.R. Giger in the history of the H. R. Giger Museum Gallery. The exquisite museum, located in the Château St. Germain (Gruyeres, Switzerland), furnished a cordial reception for Castiglia’s inaugural body of work, Remedy for the Living. On channeling your emotions into art Musician Tom Warrior on being confronted by your past work, coping with writer’s block, and learning from a master. You’ve been involved in at least three highly revered metal bands over the course of your career: Hellhammer, Celtic Frost, and Triptykon. How has your artistic approach evolved over the years? I don’t think the basic approach has changed much from my early days. What has really changed is the experience I’ve gathered. I’ve been a musician for 38 years now, which is a staggering number for me, and if you had told the young Tom that he will be a musician for so many years, he wouldn’t have believed you. But it is as it is, and of course unless you’re a completely closed person you gather experience on every level during such a time in the music industry and the music scene—ranging from working with other people and trying to establish creative bridges with other people, to technical studio experience and routine as a player. And that’s really the area where it’s changed. My personal approach, my attempts to convert some of my emotions into music and lyrics, I think I’m still handling them pretty much the same as I did in Hellhammer. When you started Hellhammer in the early ’80s in Switzerland, you were quite isolated from the rest of the heavy metal world.

    For Immediate Release September 18, 2012 Native New Yorker and World-Renowned Surrealist Uses his Own Blood as a Medium -- Artist VINCENT CASTIGLIA: New Retrospective Art Exhibition ‘Resurrection’ Appearing at Sacred th st Gallery NYC, October 4 – 31 Opening: Thursday, October 4th from 8 PM – 11 PM New York City native and world-renowned surrealist VINCENT CASTIGLIA recently announced his upcoming solo art exhibition entitled ‘Resurrection’, taking place from October 4th-31st at Sacred Gallery NYC (located at 424 Broadway 2nd Floor between Canal and Howard, NYC). The gallery will host an opening reception on October 4th from 8-11pm. ‘Resurrection’ will include a striking collection of Vincent’s paintings, which are created exclusively in his own human blood. In the privacy of his studio, Vincent practices a kind of modern-day phlebotomy, siphoning the life force which he believes contains his own psychic energy, while giving it an outlet and form. In doing so, he dissolves the barrier between artist and art in a most literal and immediate sense. This retrospective encompasses all of Vincent’s available work from the beginning of his career and aims to examine the congruency of life and death. Vincent recently took the time to explain his two favorite pieces in the exhibition, “Feeding” and “Stings of the Lash”, which are displayed below. • “Feeding”(59" x 41”, Blood on paper, 2006), depicts the archetypal mother of humanity, a fleeting organism which struggles to nurture itself in spite of the self-evident frailties that are innately threaded into its existence - namely sickness and death. Her transience burdens her more deeply to propagate.
